I'm pretty excited, I just purchase a new SIG P229 Combat. I never buy firearms new, but I just couldn't pass this one up. I'm a big SIG fan.

This may be the exact pistol, I purchased one of the two they had...

According to SIGArms this was a limited production of 200 pistols with no plans to produce any more, though I suspect that will largely depend on the feedback they receive. It is in all respects no different from the standard P229R .40, except that it has an OD green anodized finish.

Now if you're real smart, you'll get yourself a .357Sig barrel or a .40S&W barrel (depending on which caliber barrel came with the gun) and have a two caliber gun. You can get one from Sig or one of the pistol barrel makers. Nothing else to change except the barrel.

I agree, very nice. Is this your first 229? I have two, and I love them. They're my favorite guns.

I have one too, but should have bought it in 9mm and D/S action, not DAK in 40.

Yes, this will be my first P229. I just sold an older P226 (9mm) that I loved. My wife tried my P239 (9mm) and I haven't been able to touch it since.

I've been liquidating my collection so that I'll just have this P229 and wife the P239.

Honestly, I'm not sure I would want to bother with that. Not sure if that makes me not smart or not. I guess I just don't see the need for a two-caliber gun since I can only fire one caliber at a given time. I've preferred the .40 to the .357Sig, though I know others that prefer the other way around.

I recently got bit by the SIG bug myself, got a P229 Elite in 9mm. This is my first SIG as I'm mainly a HK guy.

Me too, dude. I just added a P226 Navy to my arsenal after mainly shooting Berettas and H&K's. Overall, I'm impressed with the P226's quality, although mine was extremely tight out-of-the-box and required 600 rounds (500 of which were 9mm NATO) to finally loosen up (I just finished putting the latest 250 rounds through her today). Last weekend, when I tried to fire some Winchester "white box" Q4172 (relatively sedate ammo, for sure) through the new 226, and I suffered several stovepipe jams. It appears as though Sigs, or at least new Sigs, only tolerate "hot" ammo. Anyhow, the weapon is certainly accurate, and I do like how it feels in my hands.

I did not have to break-in my USP45, USP9C, or 92FS...they just ran right from the beginning, with any ammo that I fed them.

I'm a huge Sig fan, currently with 3, and frequent the Sigforum site a lot. Wondering if this isn't something that is coming with the Elite models. Never heard of a problem with being able to shoot WWB straight out of the box except for one other Elite over on the other board. Don't know what would account for it, but kinda my take on it...
