Rule #1

Never wake a sleeping security guard! You bring them out of their "happy place"!

Bringing them out of their happy place....

Back in the early 90's a group of friends found a sleeping security guard dozing during his "rounds" in a large amusement park that has since gone out of business. Anyway, having just just left a "section party" in the park, freshly intoxicated and bordering on felony stupid, they decided to see how cart tipping might work since there were no cows in the park.

Well, they committed the poor guy's cart down a gently sloping ramp that would take him across tracks for the park's train and then directly into a steep set of stairs that went under a newly contructed ride. Well, he missed the train (It shutdown when the park officially closed to guests) but, he woke up too late to stop before the stairs. He did manage to hit the brakes but only after his front-end had gone over the edge. Golf carts can be top heavy and well, the stairs were kinda steep. The cart rolled over, landing upside down at the bottom of the stairs. The guy was OK other than some bruising but decidedly NOT happy.

Club Car's cute. Why the roof? Perhaps to mount lights and siren?

Mayby he is praying. I have prayed in that position but never
slept in that position.

Anyway, what good is a security guard that doesn't carry a
weppon? I have seen many places that have security guards
that doesn't have a gun, just a phone.

I guess if someone has a gun and for some reason starts shooting
you run to find a guard that has a phone.

In most places a guards job is to prevent crime and other loss to his client (fire, injury to employees, customers, vendors from hazards, etc.,) by visibility and other means, and to observe and report. They are not private police nor should they be considered such.

A guard serves as the eyes and ears for his client, with specific objectives in from the client. A guard's job is not to make arrests or rush into incidents. Observe and report.

When you see armed guards, mostly, they are armed because there is a concern for their own self -protection, not that of third parties.

There are exceptions, such as those who work at Nuclear Plants, Military Installations, and other high-risk locations.

Pay is relatively low for non high-risk facilities, and even those don't pay great. Training is woefully inadequate, and state standards need to be improved. I have trained hundreds, if not thousands of guards. I find the majority hard working folks who just want to take care of their families the best they can. Of course, there are wanna-be's and nut jobs, just as in any group of people. Heck, just look around this forum. :smilelol5: :anamatedbanana

Regarding the picture, I wonder how many people assumed he was sleeping or sluffing off, and didn't bother to see if he was injured or ill.

Doah!

You ever have one of those moments when you know you are in the wrong place at the wrong time? He just realized it was his day off and he should be at the golf course with that thing!!

It's all a set up.

He's secretly wide awake waiting to ambush the first evil doer that makes an appearence.

Every muscle in his body is like a coiled spring waiting to pounce and subdue any BG.

..........then again, maybe not.................

There's also the possibility it was actually his break time and he was just catching a few Z's...

I see, I allways assumed a security guard was on the same job level
and job decription as an LEO as far as protecting property, employees,
and visitors. I learned something else today.
