Here is one that might make a good "stickey"?

http://www.best9mm.com

Lots of info, with links to manufacture's websites and gun review articles.

I thought it might help people who are looking for a pistol and have questions about what is available. It looked fairly current with regard to the prices.
Yes, I'm sure nobody is going to agree 100 percent with his ranking of the various pistols. ;-)
But the info is neatly compacted in one place.

Regards, OE

Hmm, can't say I agree with a lot of this, although my personal fav & carry is at #6.

Out of the top 5, I can only agree with the CZ-75 and the Beretta, which have proven track records. The Hi-Point shouldn't be on the list at all (piece of junk). Not enough representation for Glock, H&K, Beretta, S&W.

You could pick up some good information here, but I certainly wouldn't use it for my only resource.

Hmmmm! Didn't see a Browning High Power anywhere on the list. Curious!

As you pointed out, I think lots of people would disagree.

It kinda is... Isn't his #19 Charles Daly HP a customized Browning?

There are a lot remarks to the effect "after tweaking" if these are such great guns why do I need to adjust the magazine tabs of the hi-point and upgrade this and that on the FN.

Any gun can be made great with customization; a great gun comes out the box great.

Notice that one of the criteria is that it be under $500 new. That puts some limitations on what you could get straight out of the box.

Well-said!

I didn't see Kel-Tec's new PF-9 on the list, either.

No Bersa or Firestorm either. I would put them ahead of many on the list. On bang for the buck I would put them at the top.

This just reenforces my long-standing desire for a CZ-75.

I totally agree with the inclusion of the Beretta 92FS, but no H&K's or Sig's made the list...hmm? :headscratch

Even without the $500 limitation, the list is garbage.

For example, the Taurus PT92 is highly rated - when I was serving as pistol range officer at my old gun club, I got to see a number of these clunkers. Now, they're really by design an "improved" Beretta 92, in that they have the safety where it should be, but a very high percentage of those I saw were jammamatics, even with ball ammo. And more than one had a locking block fracture on the firing line.

A PT92 that works is probably a pretty good gun, but when the manufacturer puts out a high percentage of lemons - uh uh, it has no place on a "best" list.

May I see your statistical data please.

Ummmmm. I think a large grain of salt might be in order.

If you wish to trash a particular weapon/manufacturer please provide verifiable data to back your analysis.
