I think he has a decent chance of winning in 2020 but by 2024 there will be too many people demanding free stuff. What do you think?

I’m thinking it’s Ted Cruz in 2024 and Trump will help him campaign.

I’m not even sure Pense will make VP in 2020.

Trump may decide to have a the first female VP.

Depends on who the Dems go with.

Nikki Hayley 2024

Sufficiently intersectional to win.

By 2024 all of the moronic "occupy" voters will be busy working actual jobs and paying for their own family needs. Many will realize that Socialism is a dead end and vote accordingly.......... I hope.

I would rather see Trey Gowdy run in 2024.

I forget who said it, but someone recently pointed out that you can vote your way into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out of it.

I didn't vote because I don't like any of those choices. Maybe someone else will run in 2024 in the Republican primary, get the nomination, and win. I also don't like those sorts of demoralizing statements. If you think the enemy can beat you, well, I guess they already got that much ahead of you.

Kanye 2024!!!

OK, on a more serious note, my gut feeling is that by 2024, the Democratic platform will be shifted drastically, as people start to realize the hypocrisy and unsustainability that the current platform runs on. My guess is that it will sway left a bit more for 2020, then once Trump demolishes his opponents, the party will re-brand itself quite practically to the center as the proverbial swamp gets drained by the voters. For those of us with a single-issue (2A) voting habits, it may not mean very much, but for those of us with a swath of issues that guide our voting habits, things will look much less scary in 2024. I'm not sure how much of my guess is reasonable and how much is delusional hopes and dreams. I certainly hope for the former.

If you don’t vote you don’t have a voice so you can’t complain when things don’t go your way. :patriot:

He was referring to not voting on a forum straw poll, not in an oficial election.

Thank you, that is correct. :tiphat: I most certainly vote, haven't missed an election since I "retired" from active duty Air Force.

Permanently extreme outcomes are usually not realistic. Even semi-socialist countries in Europe will occasionally elect a Conservative party candidate when the conditions/personality are right.

I think that the vast majority in our country are middle of the road and want to keep the country that way. If you examine our history, we always swing back and forth between liberal and conservative. Looking at our recent history, the swings seem to be getting more extreme, but we are still averaging middle of the road. Right now, we are in one of the extreme right swings and the opposition is making the next swing more extreme left. Most of us on this board know it is unsustainable, so we may swing left but then we will move back to the right.

My only problem is that it seems sometimes like we have been trending more left than I would like over time. The past 100 years has seen, in my opinion, a tendency for the right to move left a little to get back into office. The left, on the other hand, seems to move further left. This is drifting us more leftward than center, but I honestly think it will stop and we will return to the center overall.

The market crash is going to hurt Trump.

Bill Clinton's wisdom: "Democrats fall in love with their candidate. Republicans fall in line with theirs." This explains 2016 in a nutshell, though ironically Hillary still doesn't get it.

James Carville's wisdom: "It's the economy, stupid." Trump hitched his wagon to the stock market, and when this long in the tooth economic cycle ends, it'll sting.
