The Battleship Texas will move from its historic site at the San Jacinto Battleground near La Porte, the head of the nonprofit that oversees the vessel said Wednesday.
Cyrier, R-Lockhart, is one of the House sponsors of Senate Bill 1511, which will provide the battleship with a new caretaker and send it to Alabama temporarily for repairs. The bill is awaiting Gov. Greg Abbott's signature.

Visited several times even the local action is poor. About time that they move it to someplace that people will want to go.

Sad that more people don't visit the San Jacinto Battlefield. San Jacinto was a far more important battle than the Alamo!

I have seen both aircraft carriers and battleships at sea. Aircraft carriers are impressive, but battleships are "wow!" In addition to seeing both through the lens of periscopes, I watched one enter San Diego harbor, BB's are even more impressive up close.

Hope the old girl gets the upkeep she needs to stay afloat and be an attraction for many years to come.

The USS Alabama and the associated exhibits are a prime example of how to honor these historic warships.
