Gun manufacturers aren’t going to love me for writing this, but you don’t have to buy a brand-new shotgun for your home, shop, truck or boat when there are thousands of them in great condition on used-gun racks everywhere. You can pick one up for a song and turn it into an ultimate self-defense shotgun with a few simple mods. Here’s how:

Sshhhh! You're going to run up the price on used shotguns! I've been perusing pawn shops for years and see bargains all the time. I have found many great deals on SG at pawn shops! My latest was a vintage Rem .410 870 with VR barrel for $165 out the door. It did have a few small rust spots on one side of the receiver that came off with some Kroil and brass wool.
