I found this in my files. I know this has probably been posted in the past but a good reminder.
"And so the warrior must strive to confront denial in all aspects of his life, and prepare himself for the day when evil comes.
If you are a person who is legally authorized to carry a weapon and you step outside without that weapon, then you become a sheep, pretending that the bad man will not come today. No one can be “on” 24/7 for a lifetime. Everyone needs down time. But if you are authorized to carry a weapon, and you walk outside without it, just take a deep breath, and say this to yourself... “Baa.”
Life's too short to spend those last 10 minutes struggling..."

I suppose I take exception to the assumption by anyone that simply carrying a firearm somehow makes them less than a sheep. Having a firearm is not what determines ones ability to defend themselves. It is simply one way of defending yourself. But one can be armed and still be a sheep. Carrying a gun doesn't make one a tough guy.

In that vein, John Correia (Active Self Protection) discusses "
Is Your Defensive Firearm Actually a Woobie?"

In today’s episode of ASP BITs (Active Self Protection Extra “Butthurt Inducing Truths”) we talk about whether a firearm we carry on our person for protection is really a defensive tool, or if it’s actually a woobie.

One of the things I've heard from a few places is Mindset -> Tactics -> Skill -> Gear. Another is, "There are no dangerous weapons, only dangerous men." Both of which seem to fit what you are saying, and I agree with. Howdy isn't wrong though, if you have the license and gun, wear it.

With the above posts.
I’m covered for all seasons. Below are my 3 carry guns depending on what I’m wearing and/or where I’m going.

The purpose of the post was to encourage people with a LTC to carry at all times. I have many, many former students that never carry. They never intended to carry when they took the course. They just thouight it wouyld be fun to take. I also agree that you can carry and still be a sheep. I agree you can be unarmed and still think you are not a sheep. I contend that an armed bad guy is at an advantage over an unarmed good guy. Good guys start off with a disadvantage because we have to follow the law. The bad guy usually gets to "draw first".
