I read here and there that there were deals for Veterans..I emailed the CHL group and got this as a reply
If you are a veteran and have been for more than 365 days then you get half price if you apply after Sept 1st. if you are a veteran and have been for less than 365 days then you qualify as active and get it free..

Thank You,

Subject: veteran discount

I read online that they were offering honorable discharge dd-214 w/ 50% discount
I then read that it was for active duty or released within a year

I would really like to know if I qualify for the 50% discount

Please let me know as soon as possible if I need to send in my dd-214 w/ my CHL application

Thanks
Brian C

The 50% discount for veterans or 100% discount for active duty is on the license fee to the state. The class charges are up to the instructor.

WOW,
Hats to whomever let that happen. Any DFW instructors willing to match the deal publicly?

Anyone, anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Watson? Watson????

I would be very suprised if any instructors step up and offer a comparable discount for class instruction.

If there is one, I will definately give him my business for my next renewal, even if I have to travel a good distance to get to him. As long as it can all be done in the one day I would be good with it.

I'm happy with the discount!

I was amazed at how much a Texas CHL costs when Utah charges so little for their non-resident. You'd think that'd be a factor in the pricing sceme, but I guess not. Still, all things considered, $240ish for 5 years of concealed carry is a drop in the bucket compared to how much ammo is gonna cost me this next year

Yep...

I had my first active duty in a class a couple of weeks ago... no charge of course... young man had just finished Air Force Basic training and was on home leave.

Active duty takes my class at no cost.

Does your no cost class go for Honorably Discharged Veterans of greater than 365 Days as well?
