I had never heard of these guys but it seems they were popular with competitors. A legal spat with a former employee went to the courts and the company shut down for almost three years while litigating. They won and even received a judgment for lawyers' fees against the former employee, and have now reopened.

While I wouldn't either, the specific load info I read was that it was purpose built for gaming... and that's a bit different than run of the mill factory stuff. The quote below was in reference to the 147 which isn't what you posted about but I got the impression that all of it is "game ammo". Kudos to them for developing a demand generating load(s) that commands a better price...

Stand 1 Armory struck a particular chord in the competitive shooting community, with their “chubbies”. These 147 grain 9mm reduced power (-P) loads were purpose-built for events like 3 Gun, USPSA, IDPA, and others in which such a load could prove advantageous. The -P characteristics were intended to allow shooters to still knock down steel plates during matches, but provide decreased felt recoil and enable faster reacquisition and followup than with punchier loads.

I just took a look at a ammunitiondepot.com and Freedommunitions.com, and $0.24/round for 1000 remanufactured 115gr rounds doesn't seem out of line with current market, unfortunately. LAX Range sells reloaded 9mm 135gr for $0.18/round.

I believe flechero is right, Stand 1 Armory seems to focus on producing specific loads for competition and maybe hunting purposes.

I bought ammo from Stand 1 right up until they closed. The quality of their ammo was superb, and it was....at the time... reasonably priced. Their match loads were quite accurate in my rifles.

For 147 grain the IDPA minimum power factor for SSP, ESP, CCP is 125. Minimum velocity would be just over 850fps which is pretty much a standard power required. -P would be gaming indeed.

Ironic that they open back up just as ammo prices have gone up and availability has plummeted.

I'm pretty sure it's coincidental. Their prices are high at the moment .... for them .... but still not as high as some other vendors in this climate. They could charge more than they are charging and get away with it.

Yeah, I'm sure its likely just a coincidence, but my skeptical side remembers the oft quoted "I don't believe in coincidences". Either way it's good that someone is producing ammo locally.

Coincidental. the legal stuff just recently was cleared up according to what I read on it and ownership shifted to some new folks with help of the original owner. Should be similar experience to what they were doing before; hopefully. I've shot plenty of their 147gr chubbies in my comp pistol and its good stuff. Reliable without issues. I still have a partial case of match 75 gr from before they closed up but have long been out of everything else and buying from other options; Angelfire, etc. It's pretty clear what you are getting though for gamer options vs others. The gamer loads were always reliable before IME and the pricing is inline. Happy to have a local option and can't wait till they start offering local pickup to cut that shipping cost.
