An incident where a Lubbock female was robbed and stabbed. Another female was robbed by knife point in July at a local Wal Mart. The the robber was a Hispanic male then who escaped on a city bus. This robbery last night was in an mid to upper middle class neighborhood as was the one at Wal Mart.

Woman Robbed and Stabbed Outside Lubbock Convenience Store

Lubbock police used dogs in an attempt to sniff the trail of a robbery suspect. That suspect is accused of robbing and stabbing a woman in central Lubbock around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

The woman was shopping at Diamond Shamrock at 29th and Slide when she noticed a stray cat. She went to check on the cat when the suspect demanded her money. He apparently took money and jewelry before stabbing the woman twice in the stomach with a pocket knife.

The suspect is believed to be a Hispanic man, thought to be between 16 to 18 years old.

While criminals are generally stupid, some of them figure out that you can steal more and better stuff in better neighborhoods.

So much for "give 'em what they want and you won't get hurt."

Because the articles would read "Victim shot while trying to rob a man who is licensed to carry a HANDGUN!?!?!?

Wow! That is just down the street from where I live.

I don't even think there was anything on the news about this.....this post was the first I heard of it.

The station that did this report is pretty pro-gun. They did a story after the Wal Mart incident and the elderly man that was stabbed to death in his garage. It was about CHL's and they did interviews with a gun store that sponsored CHL classes, instructors and people taking the course. They talked about the increase of CHL holders and the reasons why it was increasing. I thought it was a very open minded story. I don't think that as many liberals have moved here as in other parts of the state and I think the news media around here reflects that.

It was on the news this morning. Ironically it was across the street from the gun shop that had the employee that stabbed a co-worker to death last month. No bearing on this case but still pretty weird.

Thats probably why I haven't seen it then......I watch the evening news.

Have they opened the gun shop back up yet? I knew it was closed for the following week.

I think its is but I won't do business with Fred's. They are way too overpriced and the employees are way too opinionated.

We live in the same neighborhood. I'm at 27th and Chicago. Lots of break-in and attempts West of Chicago between 26th and Bowie. I know of three break-ins and two attempts in the last 6 weeks. I think they are coming across LCU/LCS from Frankford.

Since McDougal paved over the Tech getto, crime rates have gone up all over town but west Lubbock seems to have been hit the hardest. I know that the above mentioned neighborhood is doing some of their own patroling.

I've lived in the neighborhood for most of my life, while things are certainly not the same as when I moved over in '75, it is still a pretty stable neighborhood and we have weathered this before.

We'll all have to keep our eyes peeled.

The only thing McDougal accomplished was moving all the criminals from Tech Ghetto to other parts of town. What people will do for money. Notice that his son left the mayors office after they accomplished taking over the ghetto? A guy that works for me lives off of 66th and Indiana and about a year ago lost 10 or 12 guns and 4 guitars in a burglary. He says that now there are undesirables living all over the neighborhood now.

I'm on a media tear today I guess.

A story that is about a little old lady who someone attempts to rob, she pulls out her .38 and repels the attackers doesn't sell papers. That story reads a lot like, "Two cars almost collided in an intersection today, but one car applied the brakes and the other car applied the horn and no injuries were reported."

It's a yawner.

A story about a little old lady that is raped, stabbed, and murdered sells papers, so that's what gets printer.
