Malls with 30.06 sign

Anyone seen any in the Houston area where a Mall has posted a 30.06 sign.
The reason I ask is I will not frequent an establishment that posts one of these, especially not a shopping mall.
I do not think there are any, but then again, I could be wrong.

I wasn't aware of that one. Thanks for posting.
I only know of Katy Mills; I will no longer shop there until they take down their 30.06 signs. Other local malls can have my business.

Sharpstown mall is probably one of the most dangerous places in town. Why would they do this. And Katy Mills mall. I was just in Bass Pro shop and did not see a sign (had my gun in the car anyway).
I would not go into Sharpstown Mall with out a full loaded, condition 1 weapon, so they will never never ever see my business. Either will Katy Mills.
These malls are probably owned by out-of-towners.

Why would any public place want to keep good CHL citizens unarmed in their establishment? It doesn't make sense.

Going to Sharpstown mall with an empty holster is like putting a target on your forehead.

And the odd thing is, not all "posted" malls post all the entrances . . . often, if you enter through an unposted "anchor" store, you make your way into the mall proper without ever passing a compliant sign.
So much for their prohibition.

OK, so you enter through an unmarked anchor store and find no compliant 30.06 signage. What are your obligations under the law as far as concealed carry are concerned? I know ignorance is no excuse....now here's the what if.....but if you are unaware of appropriate and conforming signage, are your knickers in a pinch?

I think if they want to be in compliance, then they would have to post at each and every entrance to their "glorious" mall period. If I walked in a normal entrance and there was no 30.06, then I do not see how someone could hold me liable for carrying.
Sharpstown is probably the most dangerous place in the city. They only want the thugs and gang members to carry, because they are mostly felons who give a hoot about our laws.
I only have been in Sharpstown mall once, and it was a big mistake. Middle of the day and I knew I was in the wrong place. I will never be back, but if I do, I guess I will not carry concealed, I will walk in with my 12 guage on my shoulder (LOL).

I have a few aquaintences that live in the Sharpstown area and I agree with your assessment. The crime in SW area has become rampant. That is what made my decision concerning CHL a no brainer. Thanks for your response.

The way I read the law, if any of the mall entrances are posted, the mall is off limits, whether the entrance you came through is posted or not. The reason i say this is that there is a difference between 30.05 and 30.06 on the specification of how to post the notice. 30.05 says that the sign must be reasonably likely to come to the attention of an intruder It also says the sign must be posted at "THE entrance to the building". This certainly implies that if you come in an entry that is not posted you are good to go.
BUT, 30.06 says "A sign posted on the property" that is displayed in a conspicuous manner clearly visible to the public. This clearly says it does not have to be at the entrance and certainly implies that they only need one on the property.
I think the average officer would treat the mistake as an honest mistake and just ask you to leave with it, but I cannot promise that every officer is reasonable or as pro-gun as some of us.

A sign on an entrance on the opposite side of the building, hundreds of yards from where you enter, is neither conspicuous nor visible.
PC 30.06 defines how adequate notice can be given to CHL holders, informing them that they may not enter with a concealed handgun. It could not be reasonably held that a single sign on a building with multiple entrances, would serve to give notice to anyone who could not see it.
Remember, a 30.06 sign doesn't actually make a place off-limits. Instead, it
serves notice to CHLs that they are committing criminal trespass if they enter with a concealed handgun. Without notice, there is no crime.

Not all entrances to Sharpstown Mall are posted, only some of the main mall entrances. None of the stores with external entrances are posted. A reliable individual told me the other day that the Sharpstown mall 30.06 signs are noncompliant. He packed in the mall.
Yes, you need to pack in the Sharpstown area.

If not all entrances are posted, and a person enters through an unposted entrance, how is it enforcable? Honestly, if a person has not received written or verbal notice, he is not trespassing under 30.06.
If a person knows a place is properly posted and enters through an unposted entrance he is risking prosecution. I doubt if one would be caught by video or other surveilance. I have seen few compliant signs.
Keep'em concealed.
