I got a Star BM 9MM today it looks like a small 1911 it was made in 1981 but looks brand new. The Star is a single action 8 + 1 in chamber has a hammer that cocks back just like the 1911 and thumb safety.
The little gun is pretty heavy and it came with a extra Magazine and extra pair of grips and looks to be well built it is a nice looking gun to me.
I think it imported from Spain.

Anyone have them or have heard good or bad things about them?

Any reports on the gun would be appreciated.

There are several Star BM's in my extended family. We've never had a problem with any of them. The tolerances are a little "loose" - but they've handled every type of ammo we've put through them, with a reasonable accuracy.

That is the exact gun I bought but I paid alot more then $200. for it but it is a 99% gun so I am happy with what I got.

I don't shot much so I may try and find a $200. parts gun just to be on safe side of needing parts as it says the parts are getting harder to find.

the Star BM is an excellent weapon. Several years ago I was plundering through a pawn shop's supply of inventory (a friend was the owner), and ran across a half dozen Star BM's. After tinkering with them for a few minutes, I started getting interested and began taking every one of them apart and inspecting. In a half hour or so of handling them all, I made a very good choice. I found one that had an excellent bore, fairly loose slide, a good bit of holster wear, but solid as a rock. I chose it over a couple that looked much "newer", but made a very good decision. I could consistantly shoot 2 inch groups with the old Star at 15 yards which led to 4 of my running buddies and my son to buy theirs. In the 2-3 years I had the Star, I probably shot 5 thousand rounds through it, and it just kept getting better. I originally paid $159 for mine, and for some (stupid) reason I traded it for $160 credit towards another pistol a few months ago. The other pistol is great, but I really miss the Star. Now, they are marked at $239 (or more) locally.

I still have the original cardboard "case" around somewhere.

A few minutes of search will lead you to dozens of very informative internet sites dealing specifically with the Star BM.

Congratulation on a very good purchase. One little suggestion though: after you spend a bit of time researching, you may want to purchase a few of the soon to be "hard to find" wear prone parts to keep in reserve.
