I didn't write anything personal about you. If you took anything I said as such, please accept my sincere apologies.

I was refuting the ideas you espoused, not you personally. I began by asking about a statement by Abraham, assuming you had read his last post before I did so. He stated it wasn't about the flag. My bad for not quoting him. I replied to a few of your ideas using some metaphors that I thought would be easily understood. I was wrong in assuming they would be.

I think it is clear that what we have here is a failure to communicate and the subject should just be dropped. I do so now.

I don't think there's ever a time when hating America was so popular among Americans.

Flying the flag was once a sign of patriotism. It's now become a symbol of protest against growing popularity of hating Patriotism.

The wife and I just stopped at Sonic for ice cream after dinner. There were 7 pickups flying large American and Texas flags in the bed of their pickups. I decided to see if the theory that these people have no idea why they're flying the flag and are just trying to say, "Hey, look at me" holds water.

They were young and were all sitting under the center awning and I approached and asked them why the flags. They all took turns telling me that they were showing support for the murdered service members in Chattanoga. One girl said her brother was in Afghanistan in the Marines, another said his dad was an AirForce Recruiter. There were several Marine Corps. flags in view. All of them had all their teeth.

So much for the idea that these are just OCT wanna-be's.

yeh, that's kinda what I was thinking.
I think it might be time for several people to go to Sonic and get something cool?

Maybe we need a poll to see who strongly supports flying the American Flag.

I believe I could predict the outcome of that poll with a high level of accuracy.

That's got to be one of the best answers I have ever heard. There is hope yet! Good to see some young people honoring and recognizing what is happening, even if it's not in our state or directly affecting us.

I think most of these guys who mount these large flags that flap like mad as they hurtle down the road, look ridiculous.

That's my opinion, if yours differs, O.K. by me.
I fly a flag next to my front door, every day. But I agree that flying big flags of any kind in the bed of a pickup is a sad and desperate "hey look at me" statement........kind of like wearing a tube top and short shorts at a wedding.
