:iagree:

I talk with a guy on one of the sniper forums who works as a contractor in Africa for a U.S. based anti-poaching company. Some of the forum people thought he was a poacher until we learned who he worked for and what he does for a living. His job is to hunt poachers. Although he doesn't openly say so, you can tell that they don't make arrests. Dangerous way to make ends meet.

Delta, United, and American now ban transportation of trophies.

"The airlines announced that they would no longer transport lion, rhinoceros, leopard, elephant or buffalo remains."

Trophy hunters are making their sport hated simply by doing it.

No matter what positive aspect of the sport, if it is perfectly legal, ethical game management, financially beneficial, etc. etc. their is nothing trophy hunters are going to be able to do to make those who hate it hate it less.

Just like the 2nd amendment.

What do they want? The complete disarmament of every citizen of the country so only the police and military have access to arms. They are willing to shred the Constitution and sacrifice our natural born rights to enable disarmament to become a reality through police state surveillance, data mining operations and no warrant searches.

+Jeremy Hopper Yup, this is the final goal of their entire agenda. They don't want more laws on how people can legally purchase and safely own guns. They just want all guns gone. The laws are just them taking anything they can get to break down the walls the constitution has put up.
Chance favors the prepared. Making good people helpless doesn't make bad people harmless.
There is no safety in denial. When seconds count the Police are only minutes away.
Sometimes I really wish a lawyer would chime in and clear things up. Do we have any lawyers on this forum?

Watching the media hype and public reaction reminds me that it would be an exercise in futility arguing the merits or lack thereof for trophy hunting, but I would point out to the general public and media hypesters jumping on the bandwagon against hunting that until they put their money where their mouth is maybe they should just keep quiet. Hunters started the first conservation efforts and that includes Africa. Without them much of the wildlife we enjoy would be gone. Hunters and Fishermen pay for conservation and wildlife efforts with their license fees and taxes generated by the Pittman-Robertson Act. (I've never heard of any Sierra Club, PETA or Green Peace lobbyists shouting for their members and supports to pay an 11% tax on the things they enjoy, like sportsman did. When all the tree huggers and green folks want to start paying for the wildlife and conservation areas (including non-hunting areas) that are funded by hunters and sportsmen maybe I'll lend them an ear.
We in America have no right whatsoever telling African countries what they can and cannot do with their resources. No one in some foreign country was telling us what to do when wolves were being eradicated, bears being killed on sight, Bison hunted for hide with carcasses left to rot, waterfowl and passenger pigeons being slaughtered by market hunters almost to extinction in the case of Bison and complete extinction in the case of the passenger pigeon. That doesn't include the massive losses of habitat for farming and nice ranchettes that eliminate and displace far, far more wildlife than any hunters, trophy or otherwise could ever manage to do. rant over
