30-30 loads with H322

Post by PBR »

Anyone have any books or input with loads for 30-30 using H322 powder? I seen bunch of older and some newer post using the H322. It seems like for some reason Hodgdon no longer show any load data for 30-30 and H322. Like I mentioned I know and seen several say it works great. I only have one book and it doesn't mention it. Heard some of the older books like serria and some others show it. Just have several jugs of H322 cause that's what I use for 223 and 308, looking to load some 30-30. Thanks for any links or info

found couple torrents for hornady 3rd edition and 4th edition

3rd edition says 150gr round nose 28 min / 32 max

4th edition only shows H322 for lighter loads up to 110gr - 31 min / 35 max -- doesnt show any for 150gr

Brian Pearce highly recomends this powder with both 150gr & 170gr bullets. He has made mention of 31.5gr in several articles
quoted from a forum post in 2010

just wonder if they changed something in the powder which is one reason hodgdon no longer shows it and being one reason lot of newer books dont show it

Well went ahead and loaded up 5 rds today with 27.5 grains of 322 and headed out just to see and check it out. Seemed to shot real nice, couldn't really tell or test accuracy too much cause started raining but just wanted to see how it felt and how casings looked afterwards, all went well. Will load up a few more and try to test accuracy next time.
