Took the Glock class recently which got me to thinking that I'd like to do a 1911 course. I know such a class would be much longer and more involved, but it sure would help, especially after my last range trip.
1911 Armorer's courses?

1911 Armorer's courses?
Know of anybody doing 1911 Armorer's courses in the Houston or Gulf Coast area that's open to students outside the LE community?

Bump. Would love to get in on one as well.
As a side note, how was the Glock course? Seriously considering some combat Tupperware to go with my 1911's, but I've got almost no clue what's going on inside one.

I really enjoyed the Glock Armorer's course. Of a class of about 30, I'd say 85% were LEOs, the rest were a mix of FFL and GSSF attendees.
You'll leave the class having complete confidence in your ability to maintain, diagnose, and repair. It helps that they're really very simple (not a bad thing by any stretch) and there's so little variation in the Glock line compared to other brands.
Hit https://www.glocktraining.com/schedule.aspx and switch the list from Date to State, to show all the classes in Texas. Last year there were a couple in Houston, but only one this year for some reason. I know the next one here isn't until Feb. 2016 at Athena.

Scott, I was just thinking the same thing. I've been looking for a course around Texas, but haven't found anything yet.
Thanks for posting.

I should add that the Glock class is very hands on. Every student was handed a Glock 22, either a Gen 3 or Gen 4, to work with shortly after the class started and you worked with it right up until the end.
That's the kind of thing I'd really like to find for the 1911, but mr. google says it won't be easy.
Perhaps if we had enough interest, we could get Muhammad (or Jerry, Ken, or Suzy) to come to us?

Re: 1911 Armorer's courses?
Looks like Larry offers a 3 day Armorer's Class (sounds perfect) and a 6 day 'Gunsmithing Class' where they do just that.
I bet we could fill 12 spots for the 3 day class in a heartbeat. Any idea what it takes to get Larry to town other than the per-student fee and scheduling?
