I don't know many facts about this most current event and the following could therefore end up being irrelevant, but... The crux of the Lives Matter argument would seem to be that folks shouldn't be killed for little or no reason. If that is indeed the rationale for the movement, why then escalate tension with law enforcement -- folks who are armed and supposedly already have a bias against you? If lives are really what matters, folks ought to realize that keeping on the straight and narrow is far more likely to enhance life expectancy than picking fights with armed agencies. Therefore, I am back to questioning the real motives behind the movement and the escalating tensions.

It's a matter of psychology. If someone so inclined can unite people against a common enemy, they're easier to control. Groups like LivesMatter are taking folks that are disenfranchised with their lot in life for whatever reason and convincing them that the real reason they're unhappy is the police and the establishment. It's easier to accept than the true reasons, so they're hooked.Middle Age Russ wrote:I don't know many facts about this most current event and the following could therefore end up being irrelevant, but... Motives? That's easy - power. They're building a psuedo Army.

I don't know about a psuedo Army or "real" agenda, but sitting silently and saying nothing isn't going to solve the problem. It's the use of widespread video that has brought this to the attention of the public via the media... I just wonder what it was really like 50 years ago before everyone had a camera.
If we should all go about our day and there's nothing to see here, you're a lot less concerned than me.
I'm not concerned about a revolution, but something fundamental needs to change with the way we go about policing in this country.
Note, there is no excuse for cop killing.. Or unnecessary use of deadly force by any party.

"The seeds of totalitarian regimes are nurtured by misery and want. They spread and grow in the evil soil of poverty and strife. They reach their full growth when the hope of a people for a better life has died. We must keep that hope alive." -- Harry Truman, in a speech about what is known as "The Truman Doctrine"
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

And from the White House all you hear is crickets!

"You can say 'stop' or 'alto' or use any other word you think will work but I've found that a large bore muzzle pointed at someone's head is pretty much the universal language."

They are starting a war that they cannot win.

Re: Cop shot by three suspects in Illinois
There's a criminal element to the BLM that want to do crime without punishment.
With chants of "Kill the pig - an Fry em up Like Bacon.
Or "What do we want? Dead Cops! When do we want em? Now!
Then there's this: "Mitchell, a former assistant district attorney, offered shoplifting as an example, suggesting that communities of color may prefer that police refrain from enforcing laws against theft from large retail chains because responding to such crimes leads to an increased police presence in neighborhoods where shoplifting is prevalent."
BLM is loved by the Democrat party.
Obama had plenty to say that was anti-LEO after Ferguson.
BLM is heavily populated by criminal racists, and useful idiots.
There is nothing good about BLM.

Re: Cop shot by three suspects in Illinois
As much as I hate the "Its Obama's Fault" punchline these days, I think a fair part of the current war on LEOs falls squarely on him. He's used his pulpit repeatedly to speak out against what he deems to be racism, but he's almost stubbornly silent when officers are targeted.
Almost like he's trying to erode the stability of the country...

You sure it's not a reaction to poor policing being caught on video? I don't condone killing on either side, but I'm not sure it's as simple as you've made it out to be:

It also could be another chicken or the egg came first argument. (I'm well aware of the Christian belief) Just using it as an example.

Re: Cop shot by three suspects in Illinois
I can agree with that... Whatever started it, we've got an environment where I'd be very concerned if I was a professional LEO.
