Question about the Sig M11 A1

Question about the Sig M11 A1
I was looking to buy some more grips for an M11. It's kind of a frankengun. 229 frame size. I've seen 228 grips say they fit the 229 as well. What size grips should I be looking for? I think the 229 grips will fit the M11 but I'm not sure.
Re: Question about the Sig M11 A1
They do. I have an M11A1 and I think the stock grips are ok, at least for my hand size. If I'dd replace the grips I most likely would put G10 grips on or convert to the E2 grip.

Nothing wrong with those grips but I like the look on some others. Aluminum ones look good. Thanks for the link.bmwrdr wrote:They do. NP. I have played with grips for a while. The grips sold by the gun manufacturer usually work always. 3rd party manufacturers may offer good deals but I had to use some tlc in the past to get a proper fit. G10 is an awesome material, it is grippy and temperature neutral. Aluminium grips can be tricky in cold weather and in wet weather. Watch out for the surface and surface treatment, discoloration may be an issue as well.meddafuxa wrote:Nothing wrong with those grips but I like the look on some others. Aluminum ones look good. Discolor of the grips?bmwrdr wrote:NP. I have played with grips for a while. Re: Question about the Sig M11 A1
Aluminium raw, treated, untreated or anodized will eventually discolor due to exposure to the environment. It won't matter how much money you throw at it, it's just a question of time. G10 is nearly indestructible, will retain shape and color, wood, micarta, tc. is considered instable material and polymer will be a better choice for durability as well.
I have a CZ which came with aluminum grips but I replaced them with some grippy plastic grips right away.

Cool deal. I don't mind if my gear get's worn or anything. I might get the plastic though anyway. I have the FDE so some grips won't look good with mine.bmwrdr wrote:Aluminium raw, treated, untreated or anodized will eventually discolor due to exposure to the environment. I don't understand why you would buy plastic grips for a M11A1 FDE. That model comes with black plastic grips from the factory. Did you buy it used with 3rd party grip panels?meddafuxa wrote:Cool deal. I don't mind if my gear get's worn or anything. I might get the plastic though anyway. Re: Question about the Sig M11 A1
No it has the original. I just like the g10s better and even the E2s. The original grips don't seem to sit flush on one side. I have a 228 that has no problems with original or other grips.bmwrdr wrote:I don't understand why you would buy plastic grips for a M11A1 FDE. Re: Question about the Sig M11 A1
If one side doesn't sit flush I'd call for a SIG Sauer warranty ticket. They may actually give you a good deal for a E2 upgrade.meddafuxa wrote:No it has the original.
