New heater

Post by age_ranger »

Well, I'm jumping into the world of .45 and thinking of starting to reload it as well. I've decided that while it's nice to have a safe queen, it's even nicer to get it out and use it. So, I've decided to add some rubber panels to this beauty and make her work for a living. I'm going to try it out at an IDPA match in SSP and see how I do. The pistol is a Beretta 8045 with the LAPD 4" barrel. I carried it today in a Safariland OWB and it was very comfortable, but definitely not as easy to carry as the Kahr in my Milt Sparks!! Still, it was very comforting to have the .45 on my belt on my outings this evening. Anyway, here she is sorting her original Cat Pak grip panels.

That's one good lookin' Beretta, is that model still being produced? What's the magazine capacity on her?

Sweet looking "heater"

I know shot placement and quality hollow points have arguably leveled the playing field, but I sure feel better carrying my 45's when I can.

I believe the 8045 is 8-round magazine capacity.

I was thinking production on this model stopped ~2004...but don't trust my memory, it's been declining for many years

Yup, hit that on the head.....production stopped in 2004. This particular model was made in 1999. Only 2000 units were produced and the LAPD barrels were a special run [abbreviated profanity deleted] the LAPD during that same year. Capacity is 8+1. There's also a mini 8045 Cougar with a shorter grips, but full size mags can be used with an adapter. I've added night sights and the LTT parts kit that came with it (great buy from a friend) They're very available for around $500ish but this setup with all the grips, holsters, barrels and accessories comes in at around $1k. I load up 230gr +p Win Rangers for carry.

LT, here's a link for the pic. Maybe that'll work.........

Good deal...I want one! :willynilly: Is the 8045 a DA/SA or DAO pistol? It appears to have a Beretta-style decocker and exposed hammer, so I'm going to assume its DA/SA. I think I'm gonna shop around for one.

There's a bunch over at http://www.berettaforum.net for sale. Good deals too. It's a DA/SA with safety/decocker but it can be converted to decock only easily.
