Travelling w/ your SBR

Post by Scott B. »

One section of the NFA branch provides quick turn-a-round service.

Filled out three ATF Form 5320.20s 'Application to Transport Interstate or to Temporarily Export Certain National Firearms Act (NFA) Firearms' to cover different destinations on 9/11/2015. Received all three back, approved, on 9/28/2015.

My 'travel docs' are good for 10/1/2015 to 10/1/2016.

Yep, this is about the only area where the turnaround time is acceptable. Though, I would argue the need to ask permission to travel with your SBR (like almost all NFA requirements) is asinine.
Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view.

Got a permission slip the first time I drove to my in-law's cabin in Utah with my 12" AR and rifle suppressor. This last time we flew, so I just took the pistol suppressor.

Seems like quite the infringement to me...

We don't have to like it, but those of us who are law abiding citizens have to abide by it.

As much progress as has been made in the last 20 years, I don't see NFA changing anytime soon - perhaps ever.
