That clip has Lynn Kuwano. It is also nto last nights story at around the ummm, 18:30 hour? In this newer report, they are talking about an ak-47 and uzi? The last one I saw yesterday late afternoon talked about a high power deer rifle and a S&W revolver and a shoulder fired greande launcher. Don't you just hate it when people (news stations included) report based off of partial or inaccurate info? But you can't fault them too bad for it, they are reporting what they know to be true...

Jason73 wrote:According to Fox 4 News the weapons were perfectly legal:

DALLAS -- The man who's downtown Dallas apartment was raided in a weapons seizure Wednesday has not been charged with any crime. Investigators say it appears all of the guns and ammunition are legal and a shoulder fired rocket launcher may only get him a citation. FOX 4's Emily Lopez has details.

you can watch the video here:

So what if the guy had a grenade launcher, I know people who own similar surplus military hardware and its all legal. of course it has all been rendered inoperable, but they own the pieces for historical purposes.

Now that's funny! I don't care who you are.

My .02 is that the news media ALWAYS distorts news reports when guns are involved, in an attempt to hype boring news and get people to read or watch. They're not called the "drive-by" media for nothing.
LOL

I am making a point that we need to be careful about spouting off that which we know little, if not nothing, about.

I KNOW the case he is referring to is the one in MURPHY, not WYLIE, where child PREDITORS, not PORNOGRAPHERS or CONSUMERS, were arrested in a sting set up by a TV NEWS CREW using the local police without the knowledge of the COUNTY attorney of Collin County.

During that sting, a DA from another county failed to show for the meet in Murphy, so the news crew and police when to that DA's house, where that DA proceeded to shoot himself.

Collin County DA Roach refused to prosecute the cases. It appears that our Monkey believes that means that child porn users in Wylie won't be prosecuted.

I would like BrassMonkey to tell me how he thinks those pedophiles "got away with it" and how that is the fault of the DA.
Sure;

They were wrong on the guns, they are probably wrong on the child porn. I mean really, how hard is to ID child porn?

That's a show stopper right there.
Dude, you mean I can't legally have a grenade launcher in my house  ...uh, excuse me, I'll be right back...

Child porn or the grenade launcher?

But for the previous poster, it can be fairly hard to ID child porn in some cases; I used to work for an internet provider, and one of my occasional tasks was to be the liaison to law enforcement when we ran across stuff like that. There were times when we were sure we had given them enough to nail someone dead to rights, and it would turn out that the model was extremely young-looking, but legal.

Well, that right there is a crime. How could any self-respecting citizen let himself run so low on ammo?

that is SOOOO true. when the shaquanda cotton hooplah was going on a block away from my house i was AMAZED by how inaccurate the national media reports were. it was mostly the facts of the case but some of it was even the day of the week or names of the people involved. i really think they were getting their info from blogs written by people that had never set a foot in Paris, Texas.

The disturbing thing about this case is that the guy had some legal assault rifles in his home and that was the basis to bring down the goon squad. Now, if the maintenance man had seen some child porn and reported it, that is totally different. It seems like that was found on video tapes as a result of the gun search. At least that's what I heard on the radio.

In any case, if the police went in for a warrant for guns and found the child porn, I don't think the guy could be prosecuted for it. It would be an illegal search at that point. Or evidence garnered without a search warrant for it or whatever.

I could be wrong about this, but I don't think I am. People get away with crimes all the time because of search and seizure laws. If the guy really had child porn then he deserves to go down to Huntsville with his good roomate, bubba.
