Going on a Trip

Post by mescobar_rpls »

So, the wife and I are going on a trip to burn some vacation time. :thewave
We will be staying the night in the following cities:
Texarkana, TX
Nashville, TN
Indianapolis, IN
Charleston, WV
Asheville, NC
Jackson, MS

We have never been that far north or east. We are looking forward to some time alone without kids. :woohoo

Does anyone have any suggestions on things to do, places to see, and must go places to eat in those cities? or between the cities? We are planning to spend about a day in each.

My wife had ACL surgery earlier in the year so long walks are out of the question and we don’t drink, except maybe a glass of wine with dinner. Other than that, we are open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

In Asheville the Biltmore Estate and Winery are very nice. Also some waterfalls and such along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Yep - The Hermitage was one of my wife's favorite stops in Nashville when I took her to see the old stompin' grounds a few years back. The Grand Ol Opry is another "must see" in downtown Nashville -plan on 3 or 4 hours there, if you're any kind of music fan (not necessarily only country, but country is so well represented at the Opry).

There are a bunch od Southern style resturaunts in Nashville, as well.

If you're a Civil War buff, there are several monuments and battlegrounds near Nashville. I've always been partial to the Stones River Battleground in Murfreesboro, just southeast of Nashville.
