Behandla Oil

Post by Abraham »

This is an oil that can't be ordered online.

You have to go to an Ikea store to get it.

I need it to re-oil/recondition a birchwood table after I sand it with 220 grit sandpaper.

Behandla oil is wonderful and leaves a great sheen on the wood. It's what I've always used in the past, it contains no wax.

However, I don't care for the 100 mile plus round trip to get it at the nearest Ikea store, plus I've grown to detest there "our customers are thieves" treatment upon checking out.

Thus, I wonder if Howards Butcher Block Treatment - a mix of food-grade mineral oil and water-resistant beeswax and carnauba wax rejuvenates wood and prevents drying and cracking per their marketing copy...

Behandla oil as far as I know, contains no wax and that what kinda scare me.

I'm hesitant to put wax on the wood because if it comes out not to my liking, I'm guessing I'm toast...

Any suggestions from you wood working, knowlegable guys who might know the closest thing to Behandla oil?

Thanks!

Pariah3j,

That's what I want, but even the site you provided doesn't allow me to order it.

Thanks for trying.

Closest stuff to it at this point is boiled linseed oil.

Do you know if it is legal to ship? I don't know why it wouldn't be just asking.

I might be off base but all IKEA products are given a Swedish name I believe. Their drill and wall anchor stuff is called Fixit. So you might be searching for that name but you are only going to find IKEA stuff none of which can be shipped.

Need to find what it actually is. Description mentions linseed oil. Boiled linseed oil is a well known wood treatment oil, so I would go with that.

A friend of mine uses tung oil to finish most of his antique furniture. He loves the stuff.

I don't see why not.
You can buy similar items [that contain wax] on Amazon Prime that will ship free.
BTW, I will not shop in IKEA. I don't like the place.

Thanks for trying.
