Private Collection

Post by howdy »

I went last night with my wife to her high school reunion. It was held in a private home that had to be at least 10,000 sq ft. The owner is a never married bachelor that has done very well in the oil business. His passion is collecting old guns. He has a "vault" upstairs that is his gun storage/display room. It is the size of a very large bedroom complete with sitting area and big screen TV. It appears to be very well secured with a massive door. The room must have 400+ guns. He has 2 walls from floor to ceiling with nothing but old Winchester lever action rifles. Each rifle is tagged with the serial number and date of manufacture. Most I checked out were from the 1800's. He has one wall of shotguns and old military rifles, many of which appeared to be class III weapons. The fourth wall was Colt revolvers from the 1800's and early 1900's. On the floor he has a Browning 50 cal machine gun, a M-60 machine gun and some foreign machine gun. He said they are all operational. He also had a few AR-15 (might have been M-16) and one or two AK-47's. His house has multiple old civil war era cannons in the down stairs area. Each is massive and appear to be authentic. I took my wife up there to see his collection and I tried to convince her that I needed a few more guns. I don't think it worked.

At the very least, she might be convinced she needs 10,000 square feet around her........

Yeah, not sure what those guns would end up other than a Firearm Museum built by the estate of the wealthy old, man. Wait a sec he is a single guy. It should be in his will. I am pretty sure.
