Veteran's Day

Post by Glockster »

“Honor to the soldier and sailor everywhere, who bravely bears his country's cause. Honor, also, to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field and serves, as he best can, the same cause.” --Abraham Lincoln

"The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive the Veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their nation." --George Washington

For all those who have served, and those who still defend, thank you my service brothers and sisters!

A little off topic. I'm at Texas Roadhouse right now for my dinner and I can't help but think this is probably not only a gathering of veterans but also a gathering of chl holders.

There were 4 vets with 4 CHLs at my table at Texas Roadhouse, myself included. (BTW, free meals, but we left a $25 tip, waitress and staff were great!) :patriot:

I went to a breakfast and assembly at my granddaughter's elementary school this morning (also went last year). They are teaching the kids what military service and being a Veteran is all about. The assembly started with the Pledge of Allegiance to the US flag and the Texas flag. Then each branch was recognized, followed by the choir singing the songs for each. It does the heart good.

Except from "For the Fallen" by Robert Laurence Binyon

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Thank you to all allied veterans!
