Note the "learned" history professor "and others" per the article suggest that campus athletes get involved...They are hoping to hit U.T. in the "big money" through the football program.
Hahaha what football team?

A football team that makes A LOT of $$$ for the University of Texas. I think that is why the Mizzou administrators resigned--had little to do with perceived racial insensitivity and a whole lot to do with the forfeit of a million bucks if the football team refused to play BYU this weekend.

The economics of big time college football make missing a game, letting the players go, a very courageous decision. There are so many entanglements, it isn't just the $1 million.
UT has one of the most valuable "brands" in sports, tremendous investment in facilities, marketing, suppliers, fan base, etc.
When they say "it isn't the money," it's the money!
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.
