DP-12 Double Barrel Shotgun

Post by Pariah3j »

Anyone see this ? Kinda looks like the double barrel version of Kel-Tec's KSG, but because it's not Kel-Tec, I'm thinking it might actually be worth spending some money on it... thoughts ?

If you need 16 12 gauge rounds in a home defense situation, you are either a drug dealer facing an army of competitive dealers or you are the worst shot ever with a shotgun.

It is kind of cool but at that price, I don't see the point.

Take a tactical shotgun course and test drive a pump vs. a semi-auto. You will never look at a pump again :fire

Well just because its 'tacti-cool' doesn't mean it couldn't be used for hunting just as well  :fire

Take the "s" off of the https.

Nope. Just paste the whole URL directly into your message, without using any of the buttons.

Pawpaw is correct. It does work that way also. I tried both ways, with and without the "s".

Or sporting clays, skeet, or hunting. I thought I could run a pump pretty fast until I got an semi-auto. 16 rounds would be heavy to swing around.

Right. My Remington 1100 Tac4 is around 2 lbs lighter than that DP-12 and with the extended mag tube I can carry 8+1 plus I have a six round saddle mounted to the side of the receiver.

I've gottento play with a few, and my first thoughts... "Man, this reminds me for some reason of the original Halo shotgun!"

Aside from that, the pump release annoyed the heck out of me.

My biggest concern, is that I couldn't figure out a way to confirm a clear chamber. I had some very experienced reknown gun guys with me that had the same concern. Being such, you will not catch me with one.

It was very clunky feeling, and overly plastic. It felt like a giant nerf gun or something of the such. I'll pass. :tiphat:

If you want to know where to get one around SA/Austin, I know where some are, if they're not sold already. That price tag is particularly forbidding.

There's nothing wrong with the Keltec KSG...works just fine. While I prefer a semi-auto with a detachable mag like the Saiga, the KSG is a very short gun that is easy to maneuver in confined spaces. A Saiga bullpup is just slightly longer and semi-auto.

Not a fan of Keltec's quality control... been a fair number of issues with their guns as of late, including an incident with a KSG and a front rail failure leading to a hand being more or less blown off.

Yes, I've heard those complaints. In every instance where I've seen detailed information operator error was at fault. One of the hand shooting incidents was a guy whose hand slipped while showing off how fast he could operate the pump. I will concede that it's not a good choice for those who have little or no experience with pump shotguns as it is somewhat easy to short-stroke. Not a problem for me but I can understand why it could be for some. Operation is probably improved for most by adding a Magpul or another type foregrip.

Hickok45 seems to like it well enough. He has a least 3 videos on it.

The biggest downside is the cost. Hank Strange likes it too:
