Purchased a new gun today.

RIA 1911 Commander Size in 10mm. I have always wanted a 10mm and for the price this gun has a lot of features. Gun is being cleaned and as soon as I reassemble I will post pictures. I can't wait to shoot this thing. Feels awesome.

I carry a 10mm bobtail and I love the round and the pistol. I've heard good stuff about RIA lately, best of luck with it.

Cost will be more and recoil will be more as well. Both manageable.

I can't speak to the cost of the gun, but 10mm ammo is considerably more expensive than 9mm and the recoil can be considerably more pronounced, depending on the load. It's not just 1mm bigger in diameter, it is also a lot longer. Look at it this way..... the .40S&W cartridge was arrived at by shortening the 10mm cartridge. Think of a full power 10mm as a ".40S&W Magnum".

On a standard scale the 10 mm is about on par with the ballistic of a .357 Magnum whereas the 9 mm cartridge is a tad under the .45ACP. I am using hands on experience in this statement without the consideration of special ammo or technical instruments to get to granular details.

The "kick" is definitely more than the 9mm, but not bad, as the weight of a heavy slide helps absorb much of the kick. It isn't at all unpleasant by my standard. Have fun shooting it.

Ive read in a few different places that you can run 40 S&W in the Glock 20. I've run about 500 rounds of 40 with zero problems. Same mags everything. Glock says don't do it.

It's certainly nice to have a 10mm. I looked up the ballistics on Ballistics101.com and only the powerhouse brands have the full potential of 10mm. That's Buffalo Bore, Cor-Bon, Double Tap and Underwood. All the others are less or slightly more powerful than the powerhouse loads for the 40sw.

I have my 40sw loaded with Underwood 155 XTPs and it sound like a magnum.
