Interesting! I looked at the photo and noted the cars in the background. Those were around some time ago.
Thanks for the photo!

Nice grin on Gus's face. RIP. For the rest of humanity's existence, they will be remembered. On their shoulders, other giants stood.

It was well known that Gus was not a good swimmer, so he must have been in a really good mood.
Also the water in the pool is very shallow compared to the Atlantic Ocean.

I believe that this picture was taken at Ellington Field.

Not to hijack the thread, but this is a shot of the Neutral Buoyancy Lab where the shuttle crews trained.
It is an amazing sight. There are a full size mock-ups of the Space Shuttle and the ISS underwater!

Theses guys prove that almost anything can be accomplished with the right amount of brains, bravery, and hold my beer and watch this.
In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.

I wonder who the other four guys are, the three swimmers and the guy holding the tether to the capsule?

But, but, what does it mean or matter without the "social justice?"

At one time all of my neighbors were either working with astronauts, designing storage on the shuttle or doing other things with them...my wife worked on the space shuttle...
One of my cigar smoking buddies was astronaut Charlie Carmarda, look him up on google.

If it was the same as Navy water survival training, those other swimmers are trained divers to react in the case of real emergencies.
I was glad to see Gus Grissom was exonerated when his capsule was recovered from the deep a few years back. "The Right Stuff" was not kind to him.

I didn't notice anything about the capsule being recovered and Grissom being exhonerated. When did that happen?
I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on.
I don't do those things to other people and I require the same of them.
