He was very lucky - and luckier still that he didn't have to immediately shoot back with that pistol. I'm wondering how an impact there can disable a Glock, though - I wonder what broke.

I was wondering the same thing. Possibly distorted the front of the frame enough that the slide wouldn't move freely?

The report doesn't say whether the malfunction was permanent or not. Maybe the force of the bullet knocked the slide out of battery? I would think the gun would still fire even if the frame flexed to the point that the slide couldn't move.

It's possible he got one shot off and the slide wouldn't move, or that the impact caused the slide to open enough to take it out of battery as you mentioned. Not enough info given to determine exactly.
