Has anyone ever tried Stippling a Glock?

Never tried it, but seems most folks I see on youtube doing it are using a soldering iron.

I'll be glad to try it on yours and then give you feedback.
I'm a DIY guy, but there's a few things I won't touch - electricity, transmissions, and taking a soldering iron to my Glocks. I'm much too chicken to try myself. Most of what I've seen on YouTube looks pretty horrible. However, there is one video that a guy shows the complete process and does an amazing job. If he lived in Texas, I'd be tempted to ask him to do one of mine. I'll post a link later if I can find the video.

Most people I see are using wood burners. Apparently they are lower temperature than a solder iron?

If you have a Gen 4, take one of the extra grip back straps and practice, or just buy a Gen 4 grip kit and practice before doing it for real.

ETA: I cannot see a reason to stipple a Gen 4 Glock with the new texture. If you have an earlier generation that you are looking to work on, I would get a Gen 4 and leave the plastic melting alone.

The link is from my AR15 members account and I don't believe you have to be logged in to view. If others post its not working I will change or delete as needed.

I saved myself a lot of pain and sent my G30S to Matt Blalock @ 5B Gun Worx (fivebgunworx@yahoo.com). He is an absolute perfectionist. Turn-around time was six or seven days, cost was $75 plus $20 for shipping. He double undercut the trigger guard, reduced the grip width slightly, beveled around the Gen 3 magazine release, and stippled the grip all around (looked like it came from the factory that way). He would have done index points, etc. for the same price but I didn't want them done. I'm thinking about sending my two Gen 4's to him just to get the undercut trigger guard (it perfectly indexes the support hand for a proper grip). For me, it was money well spent.

Do you have pictures? I really want my Gen 4 G19 Stippled and trimmed, but as much as I'd love for Salient Arm's International to put their hands on it, I need a more reasonably prices solutions lol

Could have been a wood burner. I watched them while doing other stuff I just assumed it was a soldering iron.

You can see lots of examples of Matt's work on Face Book under 5B Gun Worx. I'll try to upload a couple of photos when I get home tonight. The G30S fits my hand like a glove now. I'm very happy with the work that was done.

Amazing work....almost like he had embedded skateboard tape into the polymer, that's how fine the stippling was.....but it was the best job I've ever seen, and it felt good in the hand. Rough, but not too rough, with a secure grip.

Here's a picture of his gun:

I think he said that what he had done ran about $275, and it included undercutting the trigger guard, relieving the bottom of the trigger guard, removing one of the finger grooves on the front strap, and stippling on other areas besides the grips. I was impressed.

did it myself soldering iron about 4 times
after doing one and carrying it ...
later, on second Glock I only stippled where fingertips rest as other sandpapered my skin on my side when IWB (that became pocketcarry)
