I've had one in the car off and on, and continue to do so, off and on.

I have been meaning to see if my Kel Tec Sub 2000 will fit in my lap top computer bag. Your question got me up to get the rifle out of the safe and it DOES fit. (in the folded 16" position.) I will carry it with 2 31 round mags and 2 17 round mags. I can carry that bag into almost any place and the populace will not even suspect what is in there.

I carried this for a while, probably for the last several months, I got an PSA 11.5" AR 5.56 Pistol with FSP. Built for $600 and added items I already had ( Eotech 512 + Surefire G2 Flashlight with mount on FSP Rail + Osprey 2 Point / 1 Point Bungee Sling )+ Magpul Rear BUS.locke_n_load wrote:Building an AR pistol, as cheap as I can, to keep in my toolbox.
I carry 7-30 rd PMAGs, 1 in gun and 6 in ACE Case bandolier. 210 total rounds of 5.56 NATO 55gr.
My carrying case is a tennis racket case. Fits well but the case is flimsy. When it finally falls apart I will get a small padded case. The funny thing is people really think I play tennis.

Edit: "The AR15 Pistol is much more shootable that given credit for and there is no need to worry about NFA paperwork to legally obtain and/or additional NFA paperwork to ask the governments permission to cross state lines ( which I do often so it's an issue for me). Therefore it's an acceptable "SBR" substitute in my opinion as a compact truck gun with rifle capabilities and minimal legal risk to carry or worry if stolen due to cost and the trouble associated with legal SBR."
I also recently added an IFAK geared toward gunshot/stab wounds to my kit. (not just a little generic boo boo kit) A little pricey but it is quality. I am also working on a kit I can carry on me that is less bulky. The attacks made me stop procrastinating and spend the money.

use the discount code VETERAN to get a 10% discount
FATPack (First Aid Trauma Pack)
5.5"(L) x 8"(H) x 3"(W)
The kit includes:
1) Emergency Bandage 6"
1) Celox Rapid Z-Fold
1) CAT Tourniquet
2) North American Chest Seals - Vented
1) Trauma Shears
1) 28 NPA with lube
4) Non-Latex gloves - 2 pair
I added H&H Gauze
If you don't purchase the IFAK with him (skinnymedic) at least check out his youtube videos on how to use the stuff in the IFAK.
FYI, I took a Wilderness First Aid course from my county OEM which covered how to use these items and more...designed to get aid until EMT's come until they can stabilize and get you to a hospital/doctor.

Chance favors the prepared. Making good people helpless doesn't make bad people harmless.

Sometimes I really wish a lawyer would chime in and clear things up. Do we have any lawyers on this forum?

Not yet, but that's the main reason I bought it (Paris, etc). Well there's that, and it's fun to take to the range. Just not sure of the scenario that would make sense to pull it out of my vehicle without 1) getting shot by LE, or 2) getting shot by another LTC that may confuse me as a terrorist.

I've been carrying a Mini-14 for about a year. I added a CZ 712 G2 Utility with 3" Magnum 00B last week just because.
For that question up above me picture yourself locked up in traffic bumper to bumper and nobody moving. 5 cars in front of you the doors open and 4 people emerge walking down the line of cars towards you executing everyone on the way. I always leave enough space in front of me to maneuver but sometimes its filled by a clueless tail-gator and sometimes one cant maneuver. There are many situations that could require long guns and the likelihood that I will find one is very remote but I refuse to take the chance. [tinfoil Stetson goes here]

Think getting out of King County, GA or Atlanta with traffic jams and massive zombie hordes. That will make you stock a rifle or rifles in the trunk and a pallet or so of ammo.....

I would if I had a car with a regular trunk.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

This! I hope they're slow moving, lumbering zombies. One can eat a can of beanie weenies and engage them with a 22 long rifle to the head. Save the good stuff for the World War Z fast moving zombies. Might even have to nuke the northeast and far west extreme blue areas to contain those or they may ravage the entire country sending us all into a morass of chaos...ScottDLS wrote:Think getting out of King County, GA or Atlanta with traffic jams and massive zombie hordes. I don't keep anything in my vehicle unless I am traveling. When I traveling I always carry a AR Pistol with a 10.5" barrel.
Re: Who's Now Keeping A Truck Rifle/Carbine?
I always do, right now it is my Mosin Nagant. The Mosin is cheap enough that if someone breaks into or steals my vehicle it would not bother me. Yet, if fires a rather powerful round and gives me both power and range and I can operate the bolt fairly quickly. Not to mention I could use it as a club if I run out of ammo. I like the idea of having a long gun available, I cannot remember who said it but one of the firearm gurus stated that you use a handgun to fight your way to your long gun (more or less). If you ever look at the terminal effects of a long gun wound versus a handgun would you will know why you should be using the long gun. If someone is trying to kill me or my family I want the best way of stopping them and I think a long gun is it.
I have linked this before and it is a bit old but a good read. http://www.gunthorp.com/Terminal%20Ball ... morgue.htm

Re: Who's Now Keeping A Truck Rifle/Carbine?
I do not but have been strongly considering. My question is how do you store yours? Drive an F150, plenty of space under back seat I guess. Been considering a pistol grip 12 gauge or a Kel-Tec Sub 2000 ( not always an easy find ).
"You can say 'stop' or 'alto' or use any other word you think will work but I've found that a large bore muzzle pointed at someone's head is pretty much the universal language."
