Interesting Wounded Warrior Project fund raiser

I am posting this in off-topic but if it is better placed elsewhere please feel free to move it.

I recently became aware of a project to help raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project and to help an enlisted military member who was wounded on duty. The project is sponsored by the 1911enthusiast.com forum that was founded to expressly to raise funds for WWP. 1911enthusiast.com came up with the idea of commissioning a set of Colt Custom Shop 1911s that supporters can buy. A portion of the purchase goes to the WWP. Additionally, a sponsored veteran, a Marine named Jessie, will get one of these pistols for free. Before you consider giving to the Wounded Warrior Project please learn more about them so you know what kind of organization you are giving to.

Their charitable giving record is less than stellar. Less than 60 cents of every dollar they collect actually goes to helping vets. They are also extremely litigious and have actually put other veterans charities out of business with their law suits.

Uhm, yes, that. The WWP portion of the project failed to get off the ground for, shall we say, reasons. However, the goal of getting our selected vet a pistol in recognition of his service and sacrifice remained.

If so, WWP and buying a vet a 1911 doesn't reconcile if they are actually anti-gun, so please, someone clears this up.

I have tried to link my website to WWP, and state that a portion of my proceeds from my training would go to them. I was told that they want no affiliation with anything firearms related. My contributions now go to Paralyzed Veterans of America.

They "claim" not to be anti-firearms? I have heard that same claim from Obama and Hillary Clinton. I believe more of what someone does than what they claim.

I came away convinced they are anti-gun, but their spokesman did much verbal squirming and dancing to try to say otherwise.

Baloney!

In addition, their spokesman tried his best to dominate the conversation with filibustering, trying desperately to stop the host from getting in a word edgewise, which I found very annoying and discreditable.

BTW, while the show runs over 40+ minutes, the WWP portion is only in the first 20 minutes.

0.2% of their income is spent on veterans. 0.3% of their income is spent on the salaries of the top three executives.

Look at the salary of the top executives. They'll try to convince you to get high quality people big bucks must be spent on them. Bull Manure!

Spend your charitable dollars directly on your family members, neighbors, and community.

Stop throwing your money at big organizations.
