Recently, I started posting on another gun forum.
Yesterday, I got a "Friend Request" from one of the other members.
I've never experienced such a thing until now.
I haven't a clue what getting a FR is about.
Why bother doing such a thing?
If one reads the various threads on a given forum, posts a bit and someone else likes what you post, isn't that enough? Why the need to make an FR? Or a like? Frankly, I find this FRing and Liking over the top overkill...
Yeah, I guess it's someone being friendly, but the FR person in this instance is someone I've never seen post on the forum ever, so yes, I'm a bit dubious when an anonymous person reaches out to be my pal...
Being the cranky curmudgeon I am, getting a FR annoys me, especially because I think FR's are part of Face Book culture, which I detest, and is completely unnecessary.
So, what do I not understand.
Thanks (and get off my lawn)

Abraham,
If I understand you correctly you may not be seeing posts by this other person because they are not a "friend" and have their settings set so that their posts are visible to "friends" only. Thats the way I work my Facebook account. I have about 17 friends and family and dont post much but when I do those are the only people I care to see my self aggrandizing missives... If you would like to see more of this persons posts and like wise have them see what you post then accept the friend request. If not ignore it an move on, Such is the way of life FB.

Syntyr,
Thank you for the help.
So, from what you posted, they'res a whole shadow underground of folks whose posts I don't see as they're not 'friends'.
Weird...and so be it.
However, the gun forum I speak of (not FB) is apparently set up like FB with all of it's various convolutions.
I won't participate in this peculiar dance, as the oddball complexity of FR's and Likes are off putting to me.
Kind of high school-ish and not a little bit narcisstic...
