If your lady picked this gun out then it is the right one for her. If she didn't... Take her to a gun show to pick out 2-4 guns that she likes the feel of and then find them for her to shoot. There will be one that she is happy with. She won't carry or shoot it if it doesn't fit her.
If you are close to Pearland Sportsman's Club bring her by this Saturday at 9AM. We are having our Ladies Class. We try each others guns and share what works for us.

Mark, I have a P3AT and carry it a lot as a back up or as a quick put in po cket to run to the store. It has NEVER failed to go bang. It does however hurt my fingers (large hands) to shoot.
I will offer to meet you somewhere and let you and your wife shoot it. Saves on a rental anyway.
Thanks to all that responded. I think I will take her back to the range after she picks the gun she wants to carry and see if she can rent one to try before she buys. She wants one that is small and light. She loves the Glock 26 but it is to heavy for her wrists.
It's nice to have a wife who loves shooting/gunshows almost as much as me
As you have all said, it has to be one SHE is comfortable with and can shoot w/o problems.

We are going to Cabela's Saturday to look around. She also wants to check out the Karh PM9-

We don't have any plans for Saturday so could meet you there, about what time? We're flexible.
Until two weeks ago, the smallest handgun (other than a .22) that I have ever owned was a .40 P4X. Due to the style of dress required where I work, pocket or ankle carry were my only options M-F/8-5. After a lot of research and trying out several guns, I bought a P3AT.
Took it to the range and put about 250 rounds through it for a break in. Not a single failure of any sort with brass cased ammo. (Yes,my hand did hurt a little after 250 rounds)
I definitely have no hesitations about carrying it. It certainly beats a .40 or .45 sitting at home in the safe.
Go to a gun show and touch a few.
I have a Bersa Conceal and Carry .380 and a N.A.A. Guardian .380.
Both are fine for me.
I always carry at least a S & W 642 38 spcl.
I think a Lady Smith might interest her.
I've dissed my P3AT a few times on the Forum, so I just want to clarify a couple of things. When mine fires, I find it surprisingly accurate at seven yards for such a tiny thing, and I really don't mind shooting it; doesn't feel as snappy to me as a lot of people note. And mine has never experienced an FTF or FTE.
Its problem is related to the firing pin. It does a good job of denting primers on every trigger pull, but only a portion of those attempts go bang...that with five different types of commercial ammo. It went back to the manufacturer after successfully firing only a handful of rounds out of about 50 attempts. It came back and now will fire about three or four out of seven. So it's going back to Florida for a second time.

I a larger (not huge) firearm, the 9MM is very controllable, and packs alot more energy and stopping power than the .380
But even a .45 is worthless if its sitting at home and not being carried
