China Deploying Blinding Lasers?

An interesting report. If it’s true, it indicates something that should surprise no one, except for everyone in the State Department, and everyone in the current administration’s Pentagon: China will do what Chinese leaders think is in China’s best interests, not what they are obligated to do by International treaties.

China’s military has equipped its forces with blinding laser weapons in apparent violation of an international agreement signed by Beijing.

“China has been updating its home-made blinding laser weapons in recent years to meet the needs of different combat operations,” the official military newspaper PLA Daily reported Dec. 9.

USA has dazzlers, too. They're supposed to be harmless, but it's a lie. If you shoot someone less than 40 meters away, you're permanently blinded. They "try" to shoot people farther away. (yeah, right)

The good news…

It will break after a couple of uses and you'll end up seeing Chinese soldiers stacked deep at the Walmart return counter.

Our targeting lasers are just as effective at blinding someone.

You say that....and I have some Chinese tech that has indeed ended up that way, but I also have some that I paid like 10%-20% of what the alternative would have cost me and is still going strong.

You've just got to buy 5 or so to find that one... :-)

Remember, that cheap chinese stuff is built to design specs accepted by the American company you bought it from.

Come on guys… it was a 'tongue in cheek' joke.

As to "built to design specs by the American company" … That's what you'd hope. Anyone who thinks the QC in China is on par with places like Germany or Japan is living in a dream.

China is an evil country run by evil people. I prefer to not have my things come from there, but clearly, it's unavoidable. As they completely take advantage of and abuse their people to run a pseudo-capitalist market, their labor costs are obviously going to be low and it's hard to compete with that.
