The NRA has nearly 300,000 members in Texas, yet the TSRA has fewer than 35,000. The NRA works hard to support its state affiliates, and the TSRA was recognized as the best in the nation when it was awarded the State Association of the Year Award in 2004. To join the TSRA, simply go to the web site at tsra.com, and click the link that says "Join Now!" Together, we can keep the Second Amendment in Texas safe and sound.

Note that more than 250,000 Texans have a CHL, and barely 10% are TSRA members.

TSRA is the lobbying group for the RKBA in Texas. They are responsible for the progress made to date, and need our support in the future.

A "junior membership" is nearly free ($3.00), it is an extremely affordable way to encourage/introduce our young ones to examine the TSRA.

Sign up every youngster you think might have an interest, (easy to do online).

No, but does anybody know any reason why someone can't purchase a gift membership for someone else? I'm just thinkin' that I can find mailing addresses for any select anti-gun presidential contender as we get a little later in the 2008 race. I wonder if any of them might appreciate a complimentary, one-year membership in the TSRA?

The NRA has a provision for gift memberships on their web site. The TSRA doesn't, but you could print out the form and fill in the person's information, mail it with a check.

On a forum that I was a member of some years back, we bought a membership in the NRA for one of our staunchest anti-gun idiots.

It might be considered harassment or something like that.

Gift memberships are now available through the TSRA, that is how I signed up my nephews.

It is very easy to do. Basically...all you need is the persons name and a mailing address.

Something's wrong there. You should get a plastic membership card, a couple of stickers, a package of benefits information, and at least one letter a month with some kind of solicitation.

You might want to call membership services.

There have been years when I missed my NRA membership card. I figure I accidentally tossed it in the monthly bushel of (unread, unopened) junk mail NRA sends me.

Thanks. I figured I should be getting more stuff, but to be honest I don't care that much about the card or the junk mail. I really just wanted to make a contribution and get the magazine. I also hate the hassle of talking to any membership services center. So for now, I'll live with it. Thanks though for the information.

My first (late) wife joined AARP when she became eligible, and then found out about their anti-rights stance, so she quit and we harassed them until they refunded a portion of her first year membership fee.

Nowadays when I travel and see an AARP discount I request it and usually get it without showing a membership card.
