Has anybody had much experience with this ammo? I only learned about
it a couple of weeks ago, and I am anxious to try some.
It seems like such a simple concept, I wonder why no one has done
it before now.

Hello. I have not done a lot of work with the 230-gr. Gold Dot but have gotten average velocities of 864 ft/sec from a 5" Kimber and but 2 ft/sec less from a friend's 5" Les Baer. From a 5" STI Trojan, it averaged 857 ft/sec. This is pretty consistent ammunition it would appear. From a 6" Kart bbl, I got 912 ft/sec, which is pretty much what I'd expected. Using a SIG-Sauer P220 w/4 1/4" bbl, average velocity was 823 ft/sec.

Gold Dot bullets have expanded pretty uniformly for me when fired into water or super-saturated newsprint and have worked well in the animals that I have seen shot.

A friend of mine shot a man in the head with this load a time back who was trying to get another law officer's pistol. The bullet didn't exit and it did the
trick (so to speak) in a pretty graphic way.

This round feeds flawlessly in several of my 1911 pistols and not so well in others. IF you opt to use this load, I sure suggest trying it for reliability. This is true of any defensive ammunition/gun/magazine combination in my opinion.

Though it is not a 230 gr Gold Dot, the 180s in 10 mm loaded by Black Hills have worked pretty well for us. They are a bit slow but seem to cycle well in a Glock 20. They shoot well in my S&W 625 too. I must admit I have not shot them over a chrono though.

In the 10mm Eclipse Kimber, it is a whole different story. The gun did not shoot them well and they get caught in the magazine.

I shot a deer this year with a 230 gr Rem GS and it did pretty well at about 25 yrds. It dropped a doe in one shot and I recovered the bullet on the off shoulder just under the skin.

I've used PowRBall in .40 S&W very accurate and feeds in my PT100 like M&Ms in a 3 year old!

Check them before you buy a box. A lot of mine had some major setback, they were all pretty inconsistent if you ask me. If I get in the mood ill try and take a pic. Im not the first thats complained either.

That is right along the design of the CorBon ammo, yet it is a bit less weight with no increase in pressures...Meaning its a lighter bullet with normal powder loads...

And a bonus (if you think so) it is a Texas based company...

I really haven't had a problem with their product, and its what I use as my primary carry ammo...

Its a bit expensive, but whats a box of good defensive ammo worth these days???

As I stood talking to one of the local gun dealers a uniformed officer came in asked for some ammo for his 357. Dealer replied I have some Corbon. Officer replied no thanks because usually it keeps traveling after its first encounter and may injure inncocent bystanders. He then decided he had enough in his unit. I thought wow when that came from an officer that also stated he was fixing to go and serve a warrant!
