What is an accurate upper AR?

Post by Beiruty »

I have a SIG-M400. The best I would expect from it is 2MOA maybe 1.5MOA if everything lined up correctly.
Now, I may or may not consider a new "Accurate" upper. If I want to do so, I would like to spend around $500 and get 1MOA or better out of it.
Do I have any choices? Or skip it all together and go back to bolt action rifle in Varmint calibers?

Although I don't own one, Rock River has got a good reputation. I have a friend that has one one order and I'm looking forward to his testing.
Do what you say you're gonna do.

What do you want to do with it? I have a savage model 10 in 22/250 that I can shoot cantaloupes at 300 yards. It's a great coyote gun

Ringing steel at 300-500 yards, maybe hog hunting/eradicating or similar.

308 is hard it beat. I like bolt action guns, Remington 700 is a great platform. You can really tune them up

Free floated rainer barrel 18-20" (maximizes velocity and mobility) on your choice of upper receiver with a drop in CMC or Geisselle trigger will do you wonders.

Daniel Defense but you'll spend $700-$1000 just for an upper.

or Larue Tactical.

Chance favors the prepared. Making good people helpless doesn't make bad people harmless.

Sometimes I really wish a lawyer would chime in and clear things up. Do we have any lawyers on this forum?

Won't the SIG already do that?

Yes, on 3-4MOA targets.

Maybe I need to consider a nice trigger first.

I have to agree on M-400. I had one maybe a year ago, sold it to get another GLOCK plus to have some extra birthday money.
It was really a tack driver right out of the box. Rugged and relatively inexpensive with excellent accuracy. Even I could hit stuff at 100 yards without optics :hurry:
Truth is, I grew up on AK's and got used to aim 70 ticks to the left to hit a 100x100 barn "rlol"
So for me, that's a great accomplishment! :leaving
