Zeroing in a laser

Through a Facebook group I came across a really good deal on a Streamlight TLR-2 HL. I was looking for a weapon mounted light not necessarily with a laser but it has one (red) so, hey. I understand the tactical drawbacks of a laser but if I'm going to have one I'd like to zero it in. My question is, at what distance should I zero it in at? I was thinking 10 yards but not really sure if there is some conventional wisdom out there that I'm unaware of. And, if it matters, I have it mounted on a Glock 17. Thanks for any input.

I was thinking to zero it out at 25 yards (maybe even 50) where the accuracy assistance is more helpful. The elevation might be slightly off between say 40 yards and 7 yards, but I am not sure that difference matters at 7 yards.

Most people just do 15 yards and call it good because that is one of the typical pistol distances available at your local shooting range.

Realistically, it's very hard to keep the dot on a target at anything over 50 ft with a pistol, unless you're shooting from a rest.
