Eagle Industries. I was issued one of their backpacks while in the USAF way back in 1996. I carried that bag daily for years as an aircraft maintainer, tossed around in the maintenance truck, up on aircraft, etc. It went on multiple short temporary duty trips, and several longer deployments to the "sandbox". It is still intact, though a bit beat up, and I was using it as recently as late last year, when it was replaced...by a newer version of the same backpack that my wife bought me for Christmas. I cannot tell you what it cost because of that, I do know she got a deal on it by calling the company. It very likely cost over $100, but they make great bags.

I have a Condor pack. I don't remember the model name but it is a single sling pack and i find it big enough for what I need to carry around and for "bug out" purposes. I think I paid 35$ or so and I've used it for two years so far and no issues at all.

I just picked up a yukon outfitters ( https://yukon-outfitters.com/products/bug-out-bag-1 ) bug out bag on sale from woot.com for 40 + the $5 shipping. I've seen it as cheap as $72-86 on Amazon. Currently around $86. Retail is $90 The fold down divider zippers in the main compartment (can make into 3 sections) are likely to zip down unless you make some modification to them. The plastic clips and matching rings for the hidden backpack straps seem kinda cheap, but could easily be replaced with metal (or a single caribiner in a pinch). All in all, was a great buy at $45 shipped. I could see paying $75-80 for the bag if I had an immediate need for it.

I have coyote tan Condor Venture pack it holds everything I will need for three days. It is hydration compatible, has a space between the main pack and the administrators pouch that works great for storing rain gear etc I think I paid about $60 for it.

Andy, check the YouTube reviews the 3V Paratus. I would seriously consider this pack if I was on the market for one, and it is only $80 on Amazon. It's 2890 CI, + a detachable 432 CI "go to heck" pack. Check it out, and I'm sure you'll be favorably impressed.

I currently have a 511 Rush72, and it is a great pack, but if I were looking today, I'd give serious consideration to the Paratus. The Rush72 has a 3342 CI capacity, but the Paratus - at half the price - has about the same amount (2890 + 432 = 3322)......plus it has that detachable go-to-heck pack.

That pack that TAM linked to does sound like quite a deal.

Another option: I have been looking at the PacSafe line of bags, packs, luggage for awhile, with the idea that it might provide more secure storage, especially when left in the car. All their bags are designed with wire mesh incorporated into the outer shell of fabric to prevent someone from easily cutting their way in, and the pack straps and such usually have steel cables in them. There are lock attachments on the straps and closures so you can cable the bag to something sturdy as well as lock the opening. They can run some dollars, but right now there's a factory outlet website running a sale on them, and they have a 25L (about 1500 cubic inch I think) bag for $109 and free shipping at the time I checked.

This doesn't fit in your budget, but let me say -- this has been the finest pack I've ever owned, and has been my daily companion for YEARS of use, and still looks great. I am absolutely won over on the single-strap design, and it has helped me MANY times.

+1 on the lapg pack. The pack is good quality at a great price. Their bailout bags (small 19.99, large 29.99)are great for just about day trip range or field use. The XL bag, aka tactical diaper bag, has been used(with appropriate morale patches) to covert carry miscellaneous baby necessities by both of my son's. I've enjoyed excellent customer service from lapg also.

OK....... now I realize that this pack is above your $100 budget limit, but give it serious thought - the 5.11 Ignitor:

If you want to pack a rifle along with your gear, this system is hard to beat. The price on the 5.11 website is $179, but you can find it on Amazon for $152.
