Re: Gun In Purse discharges in hospital
I saw this story earlier and wondered what kind of gun it must have been to fire from being dropped. It didn't occur to me that it may not have been in a holster. It makes sense that a lipstick or something could have gotten into the trigger guard and caused the ND. So sad to hear about stories like this.

Or buy a gun with a handguard safety such as a XDM-XDS AND put it in a good holster
Re: Gun In Purse discharges in hospital
A grip safety could easily be depressed by other items in a crowded purse. Admittedly having the trigger and grip safety depressed at the same time by random items in a purse is less likely than the trigger alone, but I've seen enough hard to believe things actually happen to not count on perceived likelihoods when it comes to safety. There's still no good substitute for isolating the gun in its own compartment when carried in a purse, fanny pack, or backpack.JerryK wrote:Or buy a gun with a handguard safety such as a XDM-XDS AND put it in a good holster

if you have to have it in a purse, put it in a pocket with nothing else in it.

Although probably not the same thing, my Taurus was just replaced by the company because it could go off when dropped. Can't see that happening in a purse but not all guns are as safe as we think. GM ignition switches can fail too. Takota airbags. But I agree in this case probably a negligent discharge.

A holster will soften a drop to the ground. I agree that not all guns are as safe as we think, But not every totter is all that safe. and not all methods of carry are as safe as others. There should be a thought process, when we decide on a carry method. That takes into consideration, rotor wrote:Although probably not the same thing, my Taurus was just replaced by the company because it could go off when dropped.
