Sometimes, the only rational response to such a statement would be the signature line from the movie "Argo".
“Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.”

“I was told as a white woman it’s insulting and a microaggression for me to cover or sing a Rihanna song because I’m not from Barbados,” a student who was in the class told me. “I was literally told to go sing the Star-Spangled Banner.”
Flip the script...
"I was told as a black woman it's insulting and a microaggression for me to cover or sing the Star-Spangled Banner. I was literally told to go sing Rihanna."
The "educator" would of been fired and the University would probably be sued if not destroyed.

But, I like listening to N.W.A. with my windows down while driving my car. Are you telling me that might offend someone just because I'm white?

That's retarded....and queer.

(Please note that the above is what is known as "humor," and is not to be taken seriously.)

It will only offend racists. They are in the minority, but they come in all colors.

Lets first look at the real issue...this was in Oklahoma, nothing good every happen there. But in all actuality this was stupid, and it shouldn't be an issue at all who sings what cover of a song. Now yes, there is problem with ethnicity in the United States, but I don't think songs is something we should dwell on....just my $.02 (I would have said $.50, but didn't want to offend people). Exactly what is "microaggression" anyway? I looked it up and found the following:

"Microaggression is a term coined by psychiatrist and Harvard University professor Chester M. Pierce in 1970 to describe insults and dismissals he regularly witnessed non-black Americans inflict on African Americans. In 1973, MIT economist Mary Rowe extended the term to include similar aggressions directed at women, and those of different abilities, religions, etc."

Does this mean that only non-white people and non-male people can be victims of microaggressions? What about white, bald males? Can we be victims of microaggressions for being follically-challenged?
