Re: Gander Mt.
The are from up north, Minnesota or Michigan, can't remember which. Been in Texas several years now. Nice store that is very similar to Academy.
Do what you say you're gonna do.

Gun control is like stopping drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to drive.

The one in Beaumont is neither as big as Academy or as well stocked and our Academy isn't much to brag about. The biggest reason I don't shop there much is their pricing. Maybe yours will be better.

No shortage of ammo at the one here in San Antonio, but you can expect to pay more.

I compare them more to Bass Pro or Cabela's than Academy, but they generally aren't as big as either of those.
Their prices for guns and ammo are off the charts. I virtually never shop them for either, but you can find good deals on clothing and some accessories for things.
Every now and then, they have hunting and shooting shirts branded with their logo that are very nice and well priced.

In Waco they seem to be about 5-10% higher than everyone else on the same gun. On ammo they're higher too, but if you can't find it at Academy or Cabelas and want it bad enough Gander probably has it.

Re: Gander Mt.
One opened a year or three ago in Lewisville. It had a huge inventory of firearms but nearly all were MSRP or thereabouts. On some other forums they were being referred to as "Gouger Mountain". Methinks they were marketing to people who did not know any better than to pay MSRP. The pricing on handguns was so outrageous, I only went back once after their grand opening - and that was to look for ammo that no one else had.

N. FTW store is well stocked with guns and ammo and "goodies". Big surprise is a stock of reloading equipment, bullets, primers and powder. Prices are NOT give away but some sales are worth a second look.

I don't know how the one in Tyler stays open? I don't go there often but when I do there's more help than customers.
Re: Gander Mt.
I have been to the store on North Loop 820 a couple of times, they do stock a large number of guns, but unless they are having a sale, they are very pricey, I have only purchased a couple of small items, sling attachments once and I think some ammo the other time. I like their large selection of firearms because I was able to put my hands on some before making my decision, but I always bought them elsewhere.

It opened sometime in 2014, before Christmas. It is hard to see from the highway, and there is no direct access from the service road. I only saw it because I had gone to the house of blades nearby.
