GLOCK 26

Post by cmgee67 »

I don't know what I have been missing. I have been carrying my G19 for quite sometime and love it. You can conceal it very well, it's not too heavy, and has plenty of firepower but sometimes you just want a smaller gun. So I recently bought a G26 and I love that thing. It has got to be my new favorite gun. It can do everything the 19 can do but more because it conceals and carries better. Now don't get me wrong I will still carry the 19 plenty but my 26 is my new carry gun. With the pierce finger extensions wow! Who else carries this beast!

I often run with a 27; biggest little guns there are.

I do in a shoulder holster in cooler weather. In warmer weather I go with the 42 or 43 in a pocket.

I run one all the time. In a Comp-Tac Infidel Ultra. Love it!

Edit: A lot of the time, not all of the time.

I have concealed carried my Gen 4 G26 for the past 4 years. I bought a Glock 19 for suppressor use and OC, but I found it still pretty bulky to open carry with (mainly uncomfortable in the truck). So I now OC my G26 most of the time, and when I do, I have the pearce +2 extension on it, kind of makes it a mix between a 26 and 19. For good concealment, I swap back to a 10rd magazine. My favorite pistol as well, OP.

The Glock 26 with the Pearce extension is my every-day conceal carry. I previously carried a smaller Ruger LCP .380 but decided I wanted more fire-power with all the nonsense happening in the world today.

It is loaded with hollow-points for maximum take-down. I have fired close to 1,000 rounds through it and never had a mis-feed or mis-fire. The only glitch I ever had with it was firing "Plus P" ammo. I went to break it down and the slide would not come off. I looked inside and could tell the recoil spring had "jumped" the notch it was in and was sticking up against the top inside of the gun. I managed with some needle-nose pliars to get it back in place. No more plus-p ammo for me.

It is also easy to disassemble and clean, at least when firing regular 9 mm. ammo.

A friend of mine really likes his Glock 30. If I ever "upgrade" I will take a serious look at it.

I carry two Glock 26s daily since 2008 ((Since 1989, I own/owned multiple 19, 17, 17L etc etc and most other Glocks in various calibers, they stay at home now))
For about the last 8 years, I carry the Pearce Grip PG39 +3 http://www.pearcegrip.com/Products/GLOCK/PG-39
(I have some Pearce Grip PG-2733 +2 but they pretty much stay home) http://www.pearcegrip.com/Products/GLOCK/PG-2733
I use the baseplate alone without the insert, never had any trouble at all with any of them I installed that way

On the Primary 26 is 20+1 rounds I use a Glock 17 Mag with the PG39 +3 base plate, and an Xgrip mag spacer for 17 to 26 http://x-grips.com/products/glock-26-27/
Sometimes I use a Glock 19 Mag with the PG39 +3 Baseplate and an Xgrip mag spacer for 19 to 26 http://x-grips.com/products/glock-26-27c/

Pocket backup 26 is the 13+1 round in Desantis Nemesis holster

I put Advantage Tactical Sights on everything

I have about 1500 rounds through my 19 and zero malfunctions and about 150 through the the 26 and no malfunctions. 10 plus 1 is plenty for me if I fee I am going somewhere not so nice I brings a g17 back up mag or carry my 19. But the 26 is my absolute favorite. I'm making a couple OWB kydex holsters for it today actually.

Funny you ask...
I actually started having a bunch of failures to extract (empty case not all the way out of the chamber). I really thought it was my pearce extension, so I bought another 10rd glock mag, but I had failures with it as well. So I started some research, and glocks made around 2011, a lot of them had an issue with strange extraction, mostly brass to face. In the end, I swapped my extractor and spring loaded bearing from the old glocks system (non-loaded chamber indicator) and I shot the same ammo I had before with 200 rounds no issue. So yes, the pearce extensions are reliable, I was having other issues. See my post at texasguntalk if you want all the info, but my G26 is still my favorite handgun, despite the issues I had.

And be sure you get the right pearce extension, they have different ones for the different generations (1-3 are the same, while gen 4s are different I believe).

I have a G26. It's a great gun. A little fat, but fairly easy to conceal. I find a marked difference in accuracy between the G26 and G19, at least for me. But if you are only worried about close in shots (less than 10 yards or so), it is tough to beat the G26, all things considered.

My G26 definitely has a place in my carry rotation.

I went the opposite direction. Carried a G26 for a few years. I still have it, and carry it occasionally, but I carry my G19 almost all the time now. ITs almost as easy to conceal, more accurate, more controllable, and has a higher mag capacity with flush fitting mags. I've gone from carrying what conceals the most to what can meet my minimum level of concealment that I am comfortable with. IF I'm not carrying the G19, I'm more likely to carry my 1911 or even my PMR-30 than my G26. I generally only carry the 26 now if I have to tuck in my shirt or am going to be sitting in the car for several hours out of the day.

I carry a Glock 26 with the GAP finger rest mag plate https://concealablecontrol.com/ , it doesnt add any length but makes grip so much better. I use a Comptac Mtac IWB holster and carry a Glock 19 spare magazine. You can also use the G17 or 33 round mags!

Back before January 1st, I had a G27 with pinky extension that I absolutely loved. But since the addition of open carry, I have changed to a 1911 OWB. It's much more comfortable to me. I've become one of those middle of the road guys. I don't necessarily open carry per se, but I do carry a large gun OWB and I don't dress around it at all. Sometimes it's visible, sometimes not. Depending on the length of my shirt :thumbs2:

Plus I :fire a 1911 a whole lot better than I do the Glock... and from what I've read, putting rounds ON target is kinda crucial ;-)

Substitute G26 for G27 and this is pretty much my progression as well. I only worry about concealment if I am headed into a 30.07 posted location, and I try to avoid those if at all possible.
