I normally clean any gun immediately after shooting it, regardless of how few rounds I fired. However, I just got a Walther CCP and, due to it's somewhat difficult takedown and reassembly, a gunsmith recommended to me that I clean it only once every 500 rounds. That sounds like way to seldom to me, especially since the piston tube needs to be kept very clean.

By the way, although I haven't shot it yet, I really like the way it feels in my hand.

I'm about the same - I clean my guns after shooting regardless of number of rounds ... The way I've always looked at it is a clean gun is less likely to fail then a dirty one. Yes a gun should continue to function up to several hundred rounds but I'd rather not stake my life on that fact.Crash wrote:I normally clean any gun immediately after shooting it, regardless of how few rounds I fired. I can understand why, that gun has the dumbest takedown ever. My girlfriend has one and I loathe having to clean it. However it still gets cleaned every time.

Jago668,
I agree--I don't think they could have made the takedown any dumber if they had done it on purpose. I suppose I'll get used to it. It feels good in my hand and if it shoots accurately and the recoil is really less than most other guns, maybe it will be worth the trouble.
