Zore gun lock. New idea - thoughts?

Post by Syntyr »

Hmmm this is a new design for a gun lock. I don't use gun locks because I don't have any kids and she who must be obeyed will not go near them, so this is a solution in search of a problem for me. However, that said this is kind of cool. You open the slide and insert the lock. Close the slide and then push a button to lock it. Then if someone tries to charge the weapon without unlocking it first then the lock expands inside the barrel preventing it from unlocking the slide. The process of unlocking looks very quick You can do it in the dark and you dont have to start at any particular place on the dial like a combination lock. Once unlocked you just rack the slide and the lock is ejected and a round chamberd.

Check the video:

Made by some ex IDF soldiers.

I looked at the FAQ page and it looks like they have thought of all of the questions, battery life, dropping, tracking, cutting it off, remote disable etc. All of the answers are on the money. So even though I dont need it I may pick one up. The only problem is the initial price is $99 per unit and you have to have a different unit for each caliber.

Over complication. a holster-type "safe" attached to solid heavy object with either fingerprint, biometric or combo key is a better idea. Grab the pistol and the holster is unlocked

Looks fairly interesting. I don't have kids running around so don't need to worry about it. Girlfriend has her LTC and knows better than to play with guns. So don't have a reason to buy it, but if I needed one I might give it a try.

They say that they are using polymers but I'm not buying that they can lock up the slide by wedging plastic in hte bore of my firearm without 1) allowing for some slippage or 2) potentially damaging the chamber of my pistol. You have to grip something and you have to grip it hard or somebody will pull that slide back. But then I also didn't see a description of the actual mechanics.
