I agree that this was probably either a story concocted by the media, or was misinformation spread by someone who had no direct knowledge of the incident. I don't know how things are done in NYC but any officers involved in a shooting around here, are never allowed to speak to the press, no official info is released until an investigation is complete, and then only what is pertinent to the incident.

Sure enough, the report was bogus. The bullets passed through the front of the jacket, expanded as they passed through the perp, & then failed to penetrate the BACK of the jacket.
