Re: Bulk Ammunition
I bought 2000 rounds yesterday of remanufactured 55 grain .223 from once-fired cases ammunitiontogo.com: http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/product_i ... ired-brass
I also bought 1,000 rounds of UMC 115 grain 9mm ball from laxammo.com: https://www.laxammo.com/index.php?optio ... Itemid=614
$194.99/1,000 rounds. They had another brand that they wouldn't name, but was brass-cased and selling for $179/1,000 including a plastic ammo can. I went with UMC because it's a known quantity.
Price was $289.95/1,000 rounds. Hard to beat that. This is .223 DRS 55gr. Hornady Full Metal Jacket Boat Tail Ammo. This ammo is manufactured with once fired mil-spec brass which is loaded by D.R.S. Manufacturing. DRS is a licensed and insured manufacturing company. They offer a full line of new and reloaded rifle and pistol ammo. This ammo is all loaded on fully automatic military loading machines. DRS uses new Hornady 55gr. FMJBT bullets, and Mil-Spec Ball Powder. Muzzle velocity of 3,240fps. This is some excellent ammunition, we have sold DRS ammo for over 7 years and have had no complaints. You will be amazed at how accurate and clean it is. It will come packed loose.

I just purchased 1000 of PMC Bronze from Palmetto State Armory for $322 shipped. Not quite as good as TAMs price but its new factory brass and comes in 20 rd boxes which may or may not be appealing to you.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I know no one knows for sure, but any guesses on whether I can wait until friday to order? I know that basically any minute, there will be proposed gun legislation that will trigger mass ammo shortages.

I know that I was salivating when I heard Billy Bob's wife call for a renewed "Assault weapons" ban. So glad I have all the parts needed for a few more builds, but should probably pick up a few more.

Target Sports USA has good prices as well:

SGA has provided with me with great service and fairly low cost.
Can their prices be beat?
Sometimes, but often they have the lowest cost that I can find.

Re: Bulk Ammunition
Just a word of warning, their prices in store are higher than on their web site. I was looking at their .45ACP 230 grain FMJ ammo and liked the price of 25 cents per round online, but was leery of buying from an unknown (to me) manufacturer so I made a quick trip to their store on lunch planning to pick up a box to try out. Price for a 50 round box was $15.50, or 31 cents per round, plus tax, so 34 cents per round all-in. They explained that their factory is in Idaho so you have to pay higher prices in the store due to shipping costs. That makes sense, but if I buy from an out of state retailer I pay either shipping or sales tax. I don't pay shipping built in to the price and then tax on top of that.jb2012 wrote:I am not close to houston, but I have been looking into them, all I have heard so far is great reviews. I just thought I would point that out for anyone thinking of going to the actual store.

Re: Bulk Ammunition
I just bought new .223 and 5.56 rounds from freedom munitions (on-line store), I haven't shot any of it yet, maybe tonight, but have shot a lot of 9mm and .308 from them both reman and new. I have yet to have any issues with it.
In the past I also bought from ammoman.com shipping is included in the price, sometimes they have really good deals and shipping is fast.
