Post non-conforming "No Guns" signs here

Post by CHLSteve »

I don't know if this has already been done, but I thought it might be interesting. Since taking my CHL course, I notice the signs everywhere now. I have a camera phone, and I just can't help myself.

This one actually has an ironic story. I personally purchased and put this sign up 12 years ago when I worked for this company at the behest of the owner. I visited there yesterday, and sure enough that same sign is sitting in the window. It's your classic "Ghostbusters" sign.

One of the forum members started a website for 30.06 signs. His information includes a statement as to whether the sign conforms with TPC §30.06.

The website is Texas3006.com.

And 12 years ago, that sign was legally binding on CHLs!

Thank goodness that 30.06 was passed soon afterwards. I can't believe other states haven't followed suit. Of course not all other states have the serious penalty enhancers for "criminal trespass while in possession of a deadly weapon" that Texas has, so it's less serious for them.

I'm sorry guys, I meant this thread to be kind of funny. I get a laugh out of the different signs I see everyday. This one in particular.

I like the sign and the story behind it? Did you buy the sign with the owner's money? If not you should walk in and take the sign back. Do you mind saying where the business is located?

Yes, the sign was purchased by the company. I just remember the owner telling me to get a sign to put up shortly after the CHL program came into effect in Texas. What was that--10-12 years ago?

The business is in Houston. It's not the kind of place that anyone would ever have any reason to go to. I think it's more because the business is in a pretty bad part of town. Personally, I'd rather just let them be with their useless sign, and continue to carry without interruption. If I called them out on it, they might try to get a real 30.06 to replace it!

This was from a trip I took to Dealey Plaza. I was curious to go see the museum, but upon seeing this (and a 30.06 sign that was too small) I decided against it.

I was actually more annoyed by the fact they didn't allow photography; as I was going there to take pictures for my mother, who was a big Kennedy fan.

Now that's the spirit! Nothing worse for a museum that firearm and photography...

For heaven's sake... don't take it back! If you do, they might replace it with one that has legal meaning!!
